Valentine's First Solo Trip - Pre-Trip

Finally.... after the realization hit me that I COULD actually go to Disney on my own... here I am!!!

Cast of Characters:

Me - Kathy, Single 39 (OMG!!!)
Pal Mickey - My constant sidekick throughout this trip (thought I killed him one night.. but more on that later)


After many LONG nights of reading the boards I got up the courage to take my very first solo trip to Disney... Now I am no stranger to the land.. however.. I have always felt that I needed to have someone there with me.. I mean.. who goes to Disney alone??? Well.. after reading these boards I discovered that quite a few people do go to Disney alone.. and have come back alive... refreshed.. and thoroughly disneyfied!!! So.. I planned.. researched and decided that since I am single.. and currently uninvolved... I really did not want to spend another New Years Eve alone.. I wanted to be somewhere that I would be surrounded by the thing I love most.. Disney Magic. So... I did the insane thing.. booked 3 nights in Disney over the New Years Eve Week!!! OMG.. The crowds... the crowds.. the boards said!! But I decided to brave it.. I mean... it's not like I haven't been there before.. not that I haven't seen everything many many times over.. I was going for atmosphere.. quality... not quantity....and who cares if there are lots of people... that means that there will be more people to have fun with.... yeah.. right!!!.. More on that later!!!! Okay.. .so...now.. where to stay??? after much research.. and much price checking.. I decided on the Dolphin.... but then based on board advice... switched my reservation to the Swan...(should have stuck to the Dolphin.. More on that later!) Okay... so.. i have a room.. I have my Annual Pass.. I have gotten my Pal Mickey from EBay... Made my PS's ......Bought my new luggage.. got a catsitter.... Now I need my Flight.. I was finally able to get an alright price with Delta Sun.. Definitely more than I am used to paying because of flying during Peak.. but hey... What do I care.. I am going to Disney!!! That seemed to become my Mantra this trip.... I lay out a skeleton of a schedule of what days for what parks... and I book my Keys to the Kingdom tour. And as my boss lives in Orlando part time.. I have to allow some time to spend with her.... Okay... so here is the plan... I fly out of NY on Sunday Jan 29 at 10:00 am. My boss picks me up at the airport (since I could not get a rental car no matter how Hard I tried!!) I spend Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with them.. checking into the Swan on Tuesday... (but they want to spend Tuesday with me at MGM) then on my own for Wed, Thurs and Friday until 5:00 pm when I get picked up by Florida Tours to my trip back to the airport. Sounds simple right?? Well.. as a prelude to my first day report... Almost NONE of these things happened in the order they were planned to!!!! Tune in for the next installment of "But hey... Who Cares.. I'm Going to Disney!!!"

I envy you for going to WDW all by your lonesome! This is something I wish I could do but my family is possessed by the Disney spirit and would never forgive me if I went by myself!

I guess I'll have to read your trip reports to see what it might be like if I were to go alone.
