Valentine's Day in Boston

DS is trying to come up with a special Valentine's Day for his girlfriend. He's newly out of college so the expense needs to be reasonable. He's hoping for something she might not expect - an event or restaurant. Anywhere in downtown Boston would work. Any ideas? Thanks.

Most restaraunts in Boston have expensive "holiday" menus on Valentines Day. My advice is, if he can swing it, I'd go to the Melting Pot at the Prudential Center. Fondue is always nice for a romantic meal. Another idea is the North End. There are many nice, romantic, affordable places there. One of my favorites is La Famiglia - good food, HUGE portions (they could honestly share a plate) and very reasonably priced!

Mooo Restaurant IMHO is one of the most romantic restaurants in Boston and the food is fabulous. It's a quick walk or drive to Mooo at15 Beacon from Downtown. If he goes be sure he requests a table with the high back chairs! If he wants the e-mail address of the manager e-mail me back and I will send it to you she will be sure all his requests are seen to.

The Langham Hotel does a Chocolate Buffet on the weekends which I've heard is wonderful.

Couple other ideas:

Odyssey Dinner Cruise around Boston Harbor
Top of the Hub at the Prudential Center

Some may be pricey though.

honestly if he just got out of college and money is an issue, I would stick to something young and fun, not a fancy dinner out (moo is pricey, most places people listed are)...those can be the best times. what about lunch somewhere then skating on the frog pond?

I will say that if she is a chocolate freak, the chocolate bar is really fun and something different. we just went for the first time a couple of weeks ago...took the kids and because it was christmastime santa was there. amazing, but again pretty pricey.
