My DD wants to give treat bags at her Kindergarten Valentine's Day Party. A few kids did that in her K-4 class last year and most of the stuff they put in was candy and little toys. I would like to put something in that isn't a total waste of money and something that the kids would enjoy. I am sure they will get plenty of candy and I am sure those little toys will end up just getting pitched.

Was thinking of McDonald's Gift Certificates?? Do they still have them??? Any other ideas????

valentines day pencils or buy a box of crayons and tie 4or 5 together, and put them in the bags, and yes they do still have mcdonalds gift certificates.

the girft certificates sound nice, but they could get very pricey. We have gotten the baskin robbins free cone coupons, but honestly I think we either lost them or threw them out without using them. I second the pencil/crayon/marker idea.

Maybe some stickers and you could make up some bookmarks on your computer, print them out, have them laminated.....not too expensive. Add that to the crayons or markers and you've got a great gift. I hate when the kids bring home bags filled with junky toys and candy. I end up giving them to the Salvation Army or throwing them away. And they end up fighting over the candy.....yada yada yada.

Last year for Halloween we gave out the free Frosty certificates from Wendy's. I don't know how often they have them, but that might be a good idea.

For my DS' class in daycare, he got Clifford Valentines and I found Clifford fruit snacks and was going to tape a pack on to each card. I also got at our Friendly's they had for a donation of $1.00 you received 5 coupons for a kids cone. The donation may have been for MS, but I am not sure.

If you have a blockbuster video near you, they sell gift certificate books. I think it is $1.99 for 10. And each certificate entitles you to one kids rental. I thought of getting my kids these to pass out. Everyone loves to watch movies, especially Disney ones. :D

Great Ideas everyone!!!! The only problem with our gift certificates is that we only have a McDonalds in our town, so that would pretty much be it.

I love the idea about the bookmarks. My DD could help with that!!!

Just a little warning...got a note from DD's school yesterday telling all parents no food treats/food gift cert/candy for valentine goody bags. Too many allergies to red dye, blue dye, dairy, wheat, etc.

If we want to send in goody bags they should contain non-food items (pencils, stickers, erasers, crayons, etc.) or they will be confiscated. Apparently at Halloween some kids got goody bags, where allergic to what was in the bag, ate their treats on the bus before getting home (before mom or dad could take it away from them) and got really, really sick hence the note.

How about those tiny bottles of bubbles, like you get at weddings? They aren't very expensive and kids love bubbles.

I second the bubble idea... I decorate the bottles with stickers and tie a ribbon around them to make it more festive. I do this for Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, and Easter... all the kids love it and the teachers thank me.

WhaT i've chose to do is:
Make goodie bags with Fancy erasers, pencils, stickers, Slinky type toy, note pads. I got everything fromorientaltrading company.
