Hi! Has anyone ever booked using Vacations To Go or Cruises Only? What was your experience like? Thanks so much for your feedback.

We have used both....out of those two I prefer VTG. My parents book with VTG exclusively for all their cruises (2-3 a year). Victor Hahn is who my parents use there and he is very good.

I got a quote from vacations to go. I compared offers from VTG and Dreams Unlimited. The room offers were identical, but I went with DU because their offer came with an extra $100 shipboard credit.

Were the rates the same for the same room?

Yes. We were looking for the June 3rd cruise on the Dream for 5. All that was left were deluxe staterooms with a verandah or an ocean view. We decided to go with a verandah. They both quoted a 4C verandah. Originally VTG was $100 more than DU. We told them we had a better quote and they were able to get a quote for $100 less, equaling DU to the dollar. It came down to $25 onboard credit vs. $125. We also got quotes from 2 other sources that were in the same neighborhood, but a little more.

We went with ecruises.com because they offer free insurance (and the prices were the same). We've used cruisesonly several times before & liked them.

Those of you who used VTG find their prices posted online to be accurate?

I'm pricing a June 2012 cruise on the Dream. At the DCL website they show only a stateroom with veranda available for $4825 (2 adults @ $1670 each, 2 kids @ $640 each, plus taxes & fees). On the VTG site it says "cheapest balcony = $1485 pp" and "cheapest oceanview = $1455 pp". That's $200 per adult cheaper than the DCL site.

DCL does not allow any TA to discount the cruise price, so I'm going to guess that the $200 difference is that VTG is not including taxes and port charges in their initial price, while DCL includes them. Many online TAs do the same thing, and add everything back in when you get a final quote from them, ending up being the same price as DCL.

Even if VTG added the taxes and port charges, the per person cost is less than DCL. DCL for an adult is $1670 before taxes, and VTG would be $1485 before taxes, so I don't know they are quoting cheaper.

If DCL doesn't allow anyone to discount their prices, does that mean that the best prices are thru Disney itself? If so, then why would anyone book through any site other than DCL? To get more onboard credits?

I just tried an experiment..... went to the VTG site and selected the June 1, 2012 Dream cruise and it showed $1485 per adult for the cheapest balcony cabin. Then I went to the DCL site and selected the same cruise and it also showed $1485 per adult (before adding in the taxes and port charges), in a cat 6B cabin (least expensive balcony cabin available). So....... I'm a little confused as to where you're finding the $1670 price. If someone wants more OBC then yes they should book through a TA. Just fyi..... if you book directly with DCL online, they give you a $25 OBC, which is the same deal as VTG.

We have used All Seasons Travel for both cruises and have had a WONDERFUL experience with them.

I found the VTG website cumbersome to use, and CO quoted me $9000 + for a stateroom I just booked through All Seasons for $5600.

Just a small difference. ;)

I used VTG once, many years ago. As above, the prices are exactly the same as any other TA. The web site is misleading because the prices they post do not include all the taxes. If you go thru the booking process, the additional taxes get added, making the prices identical to all others.

They didn't give any OBC, and I found the service to be "just OK." I've found a much better agency that I use now. I get an OBC and excellent service.

We used Beth at VTG and have had excellent service. She made sure that we received a refund when Disney offered a special, even though we had already paid in full. I would not hesitate to use them again.

The $1670 price is from DCL's website. It's for the June 15, 2012 Dream 5-night Bahama cruise, stateroom with verandah (the only room available to book at their site). Price is $1670 per adult and $640 per child, plus about $240 in taxes and fees.

The VTG is deal #13176 and it says "reduced again" or something to that effect. I don't know if what DCL calls 'stateroom with verandah' is VTG's "cheapest oceanview" or "cheapest balcony", but those prices are $1455 and $1485 respectively.

Ok, so now I'm really confused (don't worry, it happens easily :rolleyes1)...... I just checked the DCL site for June 15, 2012 and there a lot of open verandah cabins. Categories 4A,B,C,D - 5A,B,C,D,E and 6A and B. The least expensive one is a 6B at $1485 per adult and $640 for a child. I do see that cat 5B is $1670 per adult and $640 for a child. I'm guessing that VTG's "cheapest balcony" is the cat 6B - it is the cheapest on the DCL site as well. The taxes are $153 for all of those categories.

OK, I go back to DCL and do a search and the cruise now has many room options and the stateroom with veranda is $1485 per adult for two adults. Trying to figure out why I got higher prices this morning, I edit my search and add that I also have two children - and viola! - the price goes up from the $1485 per adult to $1670 - both for a stateroom with verandah.

For the two adults it's category 06B. Adding two children, the cheapest option is 05B for $1670 per adult. Both of these sleep 3-4, so I don't know why they wouldn't let me have the cheaper room. Anyway, at least now I know why I'm getting different prices.

Ah...... that explains everything.......

You're probably seeing only the 5B because the lifeboat stations for the other cabins must only have openings for three people (or less). Once a life boat station fills up, they will not let anyone book more people than the remaining "slots" in that station, regardless of how many people a cabin will hold.

I hope you're able to find what you're looking for and have a GREAT cruise!!

it is probably because the 6B rooms that are left do not have the upper bunk for the fourth person and when you list four people it doesn't show it available because the rooms left do not sleep four.

If you go through VTG website and enter four people and follow it through to right before it asks you for payment it also doesn't show the 6B rooms when you list four people
