Cast: Me -aunt of princesses and obsessive planner; MomMom of princesses ("MM")- recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and using a wheelchair for the first time; Sherri ("S") -- mother of princesses, MM's daughter and my sister; Mick ("M") - father of princesses; Princess Marie -- almost 8, 3rd trip to DW; Princesses Christa and Noelle - 3.5 year old twins, 2nd trip to DW
Resort -- Grand Floridian for 6 nights; Rennaissance Orlando for 2 nights
MGM
We wake up to the official announcement that Noelle is officially sick. Christa doesn't look good either. Luckily we have no character meals planned for today just MGM. MM decides that today will be her day off to spend at the pool. S decides that she should stay in the hotel with Noelle and Christa -- maybe if they nap, they can meet up with us later. So, me, M and Marie decide to head to MGM.
Marie is obsessed with Rockin Roller Coaster. Me and S try to dissuade her pre-trip but M encourages her so in pre-trip planning, he gets assigned the task of going on with her. The thing is, M hates roller coasters -- but he has to be macho for his little girl so he doesn't tell her and is forced to go. We get to MGM a little after 8 (it's early entry day) and proceed to Rockin Roller Coaster -- the wait is a half hour or so. Meanwhile, I hit the shops and grab a pastry. I expect Marie to come off in tears but nope her and M are all smiles -- they both loved it. (I thought M might like it as I recall going on a family cruise when he was about 17 (M and S were highschool sweathearts and have now been together almost 20 years and married 13) and I was 13 where all he did was play Aerosmith the whole time!!!)
Next, M gets FPs for TOT. Marie went on TOT last time we were here when she was 5. The only thing she remembers vividly from that trip is bursting into tears and crying all of the way back to the hotel. She asks me to promise that I won't let M convince her to go on again. Don't worry, honey, I'll protect you. So, M now has two FPs for himself for an hour or so from now and we head to Star Tours. I was concerned about Star Tours because I loathe Body Wars. Nonetheless, I give it a go. Not nearly as bad as Body Wars but it still makes both me and M dizzy and a little sick. Marie loves it.
Now, we need to make a decision. Marie and I aren't interested in TOT but M has a history of leaving for large amounts of time if you let him out of your sight. But, it makes sense for Marie and I to do Indiana Jones while he goes to TOT so that's what we do. Marie finds Indiana Jones to be boring except when the action is going on and doesn't really appreciate the moving making aspect of the ride. I think it's fine -- I'm glad to have finally seen it after 3 trips. We get out of the show and there's M -- well wonders never cease. We call S and agree that she and the twins will meet us. According to the schedule there is a 12:30 Playhouse Disney show so we'll meet there by 12. Whoever gets there first should get in line.
We decide to try and go to see Millionaire. We are the last people seated. The view isn't great but I enjoy the show a lot -- I wish we had time to go again. M and Marie also enjoy it.
It's about 11:50 so we decide that Marie and I will get into line at Playhouse and M will go get food. Marie is in the stage where she wants to do little girl things but society is pressuring her to grow up. Although pre-trip, she was talking about Stanley now she acts like we are forcing her to go against her will. I'm wondering where S is and then I see her -- she's exiting the show!! Turns out S got in line at about 11:45 and was seated for a show -- even though there wasn't supposed to be another one until 12:30. Christa loved it but Noelle is clearly still sick. We get out of line since the show was really for the twins. Marie doesn't seem disappointed so that's good. We get Mermaid FPs and then head to Beauty and the Beast. Next show is a half hour away so we get some ice cream. The show is great. Belle is Noelle's favorite character so I'm sad that she sleeps through most of it. At the end, Christa exclaims "that's the real Belle in the yellow dress" -- apparently, the blue dress Belle earlier in the show was an imposter.
We take Noelle to First Aid to get her checked out -- she has a fever and she gets tylenol. After a few minutes, she starts to look better. We do some shopping and then see Mermaid-- we love this show. Someone flashes against the rules and you can see the people dressed in black -- why do people do that?
We call MM to say we are on the way back. She's perturbed that I didn't call sooner to make sure she was o.k. S was with her until 11:30 and it is now only 3 or so and she said she'd be at the pool so why would I call the room -- she's not supposed to be there anyway and she could call us if she had a problem. Really, this is just a by-product of MM having conflicting feelings over missing things with us and getting some rest. I let it go.
We go back to the hotel and swim a little. After baths, I give the girls Cindy bubbles I got on sale and the Disney store. Everything is fine until Noelle puts the wand in her mouth and gags and proceeds to throw up all over me. (It won't be the last time I get thrown up on on this trip.) MM blames me. She's also still mad about me not calling and being too tired to go to a nice dinner tonight. I get in even more trouble when I return with a cheeseburger instead of a hamburger for her. Whatever.
Next: Epcot -- Princess Breakfast, Mickey Social and Illuminations Cruise
