vacationcentralflorida townhouses

We have actually stayed at 2526 Maneshaw in October '10. It was clean and adequate but the bedding in the master bedroom definitely needed replacing. The mattress was really saggy. The splash pool was dirty the entire time and the water would not get hot in the house (not the pool--we didn't pay for heated pool). It was only lukewarm. This was first shower so no way it was from taking too many showers.

I would definitely stay in Windsor Hills again and possibly in this townhouse if the mattress had been replaced and the price was good.

lotus14 - Thanks for the update... do you mind elaborating on the confusion when cancelling?

Anyone else have information about these townhouses?

Sure! I called on a Thursday to cancel ad they said the best way to do that would be to email. Ok...So I did that and on Monday, I still didn't have a response. I sent a more urgent sounding email explaining that we'd extended our stay and didn't want to move twice to keep this reservation. Got email right away saying they were trying to work something out with the owners to add wo extra nights on the end. Fine. We wanted to stay there anyway.

Got a phone call making me an offer to add the two extra nights (still having to tay elsewhere for the first night) which I accepted and later realized it was $30 cheaper than adding on a whole extra WEEK. Also just $50 cheaper than Florida Sun was offering us for the same style unit for the entire stay with no moving. Emailed them to say I'd learned this was not a good deal and if they wanted to lower it, we'd keep the reservation.

Next day, got an automated message saying the ressie was canceled. Was that the original or the new one? Were we still on? At this point, I was feeling cheated an confused so I wrote asking when I woud receive my deposit. Got a very short "in a couple weeks". Felt kind of rude. Wroteback asking how I woud receive the money and got the one word response "Check". One word? The check did come pretty quickly after that though.

I would probably still stay there if I could work it into the Sat-Sat dates. Florida Sun works better for us this time though.

That does sound confusing! Was this dealing with the owner or the customer service person?

Actually, both and that's probably the problem. First spoke to the office on the phone, emailed Dave, emailed both, got email from office lady, talked to office lady on the phone, emailed office lady, automated email from Dave then emails with the owner. I was never really sure just who I should be talking to.

Just a heads up regarding booking with vacation central florida --

We decided to see what they have available for our week and possibly just settle for staying 7 nights instead of 8. According to the Rates page on their site, townhouses are $399 for that week (first week of June). That's an awesome deal but when I went to book the unit, the charge was $699 for the week plus the usual cleaning fee and taxes. There were also 2 new fees that I don't recall seeing on their units before - $19 for a south-facing pool and another $19 because the unit I had chosen is an end-unit and has a bit more square footage.

I emailed them to see which price is correct and if they would honor the $399 shown on their rates page. They said that "some of the townhouses" rent at that rate but all of those are booked and that this unit is more because it is an end-unit. I did not press the issue by pointing out that they are also charging an additional fee of $19 that is specifically because it's an end unit.

The total for that week came to $940 which is really not bad - but I have seen some other townhomes at WH that are just as nice and for about the same price we can get the full 8 nights we were hoping for. So I guess we're going to continue shopping around just a bit more.

Anyway, I just wanted to make others aware that the amounts on the Rates page are not always correct. Be sure to watch for that when booking.

Yikes...we only paid $849 for 7 nights in a 4 bed/3 bath home with gameroom and private pool at IC the last 2 times we were down there(in Oct. and Nov). It's literally 1/2 mile down the road from WH! We have stayed at WH in the past as well but I would be unhappy paying that much for a townhouse! Here's a link to the place we stay at in case anyone is interested! The place looks exactly like the pix. and the owner is very nice!:goodvibes

That being said we did rent a last minute condo from vacationcentralflorida a few years ago and it was very nice for the last minute email deal price!

Love that house.:goodvibes Especially like the Wall-e room. Too cute. And that's a great price. We've already booked a week at one of the homes on Romancing the Mouse or we'd have to check into that.

Before booking the pool home, we checked again at vacation central florida to see if they had anything available and the same townhouse was showing availability for our week. The price had gone up even higher but we decided to book it cause we like their rental policies and have enjoyed our stays with them in the past. They turned us down tho - said that the unit is going to be closed for maintenance that week. :confused3 Oh well, just wasn't meant to be I guess. But it turned out for the best I think. We're really looking forward to our first stay in a pool home and we've heard nothing but good things about the owners. And we're getting a 4 bedroom/4 bath home for only about $125 more than the townhouse.:thumbsup2
