We will be leaving next month for a week at Vacation Villages at Parkway. I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on things I might need to take.

I have assumed there are linens in these units or am I mistaken?

We are staying in the smaller unit, just my daughter and I. We have friends in a larger unit. I am going to take an electric fry pan, hot pot and a crock pot. I think I can fix whatever I would cook in those (along with the microwave). I tend to fix things ahead of time and freeze them when we vacation so fixing food is not a time consuming affair. I also plan to purchase a rotisserie chicken when we get there....make things easy.

Anybody have any "you gotta remember this" type things or "you need to know about this" type things?????

Thanks for your help....

ALSO.....I almost forgot - I won my unit through SkyAuction and my friends actually own a timeshare that they exchanged. Does anyone know if we call will they put us close together or is that not possible with timeshares? I obviously don't know much about them.

THANKS

I stayed in a smaller unit a few years back. There was no stove in the unit but there was a hotplate. There really wasn't much room on the counter so I used the hotplate on the table. You can call and see if they will put you close together. Most timeshares try to do that as much as possible.

We just returned from there Monday. There was a hot plate, no stove, no dishwasher but a microwave. I had my two nieces with me and we had enough room. Any more people and it would be cramped!

Overall, it was very nice, I also won this unit on skyauction. I asked to be upgraded to a full size unit and I could have if they had one for an additonal $50.00 which was a great deal! They asked me to check back in a couple of days but we didn't.

Everything else seemed to be there that I would have needed to use if we chose to cook. Pots, pans, dishes, silverware, dish towels, paper products including dish soap and laundry soap. We requested a washer and dryer in the unit and we got it! Some units only have them on each floor. This was great!

If you have any questions, please let me know!!

Tobie - Did you ask to upgrade when you got there? I was wondering if I could call to do it now. I don't know how these timeshare exchange certificates work. I would be happy to pay an additional $50 to upgrade. The smaller unit will be fine for my daughter and I, but a larger would be nice for the other conveniences.

What do you mean by a hotplate? I know that is a strange question, but is it a griddle or a burner type thing? I know different terminology means different things to different people.

Am I correct that there are linens there?

OH....important question - is there a coffee pot???????

YES to the coffee pot. I needed that! They had the filters (btw) but I brought both kinds, just in case. Also a toaster which i forgot to mention.

The fridge was a large size with an automatic ice maker. The microwave was kind of tricky so make sure to read the instructions on it when you use it.

Hot plate is like a small two burner unit that fits on top of the counter that you could cook on. it was like a small stove.

I did ask for an upgrade, although I did call first. The person said that if one was available that I would get it for the $50.00. But when we got there and I asked, they didn't have one. PS, we saw the large unit on our way out one day and it was way larger than what we had!

Yes to the linens. There were bed linens, five sets of towels, two large pool towels which we didn't use as we had our own, and two dish towels.

We asked for two additonal blankets as one had a chocolate stain on it and they brought them within 15 minutes!

Also, they will invite you to a "breakfast" to sell you a time share when you get your parking pass. She asked me if my husband was with me and I said no, so she never said another thing about it and I never got a phone call ever!

Ask away if you have any further questions. You got a great deal for one week as we did. I paid $244.00 for the whole week (including the fees).

have agrat trip!

Was there over Memorial Day. They said they were full so no upgrade was available. Needed to buy garbage bags. Supposed to get maid service but no one showed up on assigned day. There was only one single use box of laundry detergent.

Thank you so much for your help!!!! I love the answers.

I am going to ask about an upgrade, but I won't hold my breath and won't be disappointed. Should I call now about an upgrade or just wait until I get there? It will be better than a small hotel room, regardless and we will be in the same "complex", AT LEAST, as our friends are. My deal wasn't as great because there is a $150 surcharge for July AND I am not that great at auctions (I get impatient). I am there for the whole week for $450 (all fees, etc), still don't consider it a bad deal.

I am glad to hear about the burner unit, was thinking of purchasing one to take and to have for when we go camping. I don't need it for camping (have a Coleman stove), just would have been handy but now I don't need to buy one.

I think those were my main questions, I may come up with something else shortly.

THANKS

I called in advance for the upgrade, but was told to wait until check-in to see what availability there was. The person never took my name nor was it noted on my reservation. I didn't think to ask her to do this.

Yes, it wouldn't hurt to call, and also ask when you get there. We arrived at 11am thinking that if we tried to check-in early, we would have a better chance. That still didn't work for us. Check-in is 4pm. I'm not sure if the units are preassigned, so it may not hurt to call to near your friends.

Yes, it was better than a hotel room. We had two tv's too. Not the big screeen the other unit had, but we could watch both sets at night and close the doors and be okay noise wise. My nieces are 9 and 15 so the unit was ideal! You still got a great deal.

The previous poster was right, one small box of tide and no fabric softener. brough my own small bottles anyway.

Have fun!

One more question I thought of. Is there WiFi or any internet access available there?

I called them yesterday and they told me the same thing about upgrading, check when I get there. However, they did move me next to the people we are travelling with. It may not be worth my while to upgrade if we are right next to them. They are a family of 4 and have the larger unit.

Thanks!

There was internet there, not dsl though somewhere near the main office. We did not use. not sure about the Wifi.

There was a DVD player in the living room and you could rent movies from the desk.

have a great vacation!
