Vacation Tips for Women! :)

Where did you get your organizers? Mine is so ugly, it has flowers on it (but hey it was only a buck, so maybe I shouldn't complain). It was the only one I could find.

SORRY!!! I bought them at Wal-mart. I didn't get a deal or anything--just bought them full price. :sad2: But, they are now hanging in my DS & DD closets, so I think I'll go buy 2 new ones! The key is to get clear pockets so you can see what in the world is in there. Have fun shopping.... ;)

What a great thread!

I guess my biggest 'woman' tip is if you're not used to walking 800 miles like you do at WDW, when you get back to your room during the day or in the evening, give yourself a little refresh:

1- Stretch your legs, arms, and anything else that feels tight
2- Get in the shower for a quick soak down. Wet everything but your head (if it's not super hot outside), and if you didn't sweat a whole lot in your park clothes, you can put those back on, or put on fresh clothes. This all depends on the time of year and how many clothes you packed.
3- Take off your shoes and socks, and use a peppermint foot lotion on your feet, backs of knees, upper thighs, inner elbows, and back of neck. Really massage the lotion in. Then, put on FRESH SOCKS.
4- Have a quick snack and water break. Unload some of the things you got at the parks if you need to (throw things away, leave things you won't need for the rest of the day).
5- Lay down for a little bit and watch Stacey

Then, get back out there. This little refresh only needs to be about 30-45 min, depending on how many people are with you and if they all want to shower, etc. With DH and me, it only took us about 35 min to refresh.

I really need to get some peppermint foot lotion before we leave on Saturday. I have a peppermint foot spray but I bet the lotion would feel great.

Great advice. I'm plannign on us having at least 2 hours break back at AKL most days, and I'm pretty sure we'll shower most breaks. :) There's something super relaxing about having an hour watching TV all clean and quiet. :)

Definitely getting myself some peppermint foot lotion!!!

Yeah I love the Burts Bees Peppermint Foot Lotion. I use it every night before bed!! It's super yummy, and doesn't have all those bad fillers and stuff like the 'other brands' do... not to name any names. I also like Dr. Bronners Peppermint line of castille soap...

Normally when I get it, I get it online, but they do sell it at places like Target and CVS, too.

OH I have another tip that I SWEAR by on vacation...

Eat like you do at home at the restaurants.

I am a VERY healthy eater at home- aka the whole organic, mostly vegetarian, etc. thing. So does my husband because I'm the one that cooks in the family :rotfl::confused3

When we're on vacation, my DH likes to eat things he doesn't normally get at home- burgers, fries, pizza, etc... JUST BECAUSE HE'S ON VACATION.

Ok, the whole 'just because you're on vacation' thing doesn't sit well, and for me, it LITERALLY doesn't sit well. If I eat crap while I'm on vacation, JUST BECAUSE I'M ON VACATION, I'm not going to have a very good vacation because I'm not going to FEEL GOOD.

If I'm on vacation, I don't know about you, but I want to FEEL GOOD!!! Therefore, I look at wdwinfo.com at the restaurant menus, and pick and choose what I'm going to eat and find the healthiest options possible, that fit in to my normal eating pattern.

I bring snacks from home like organic granola bars, smooshed fruit leathers, fresh fruit, etc. and keep them with me in the parks and in the room.

So, don't eat crap when you're on vacation, just because you're on vacation.

Soapbox sermon over. :rotfl:

I completely agree - I suffer from IBS and bad foods definitely make it 1 times worse!

I will be getting a big garden grocer delivery so we can eat normal healthy breakfasts and snack normally. We will be having a few ADRs but I will be ordering the fruit side instead of fries, and a turket sandwich instead of a burger etc. etc.

I'm pretty sure there will be one pizza and one burger though, as it IS vacation after all!

While we're not into organic foods, we do try to eat heathily - our children are involved in competitive sports, and DH and I are just trying to eat healthily and avoid our families' medical histories (diabetes, obesity, heart disease etc!)

During our July 2007, we threw caution to the wind and ate any and everything because "after all, we're on vacation" Well, that story didn't end to well - our stomachs hated the treatment, my cholesterol went through the ceiling and then there was the weight gain! UGH! We never made that mistake again!

I love my peppermint lotion for my feet. I usually soak my feet in cool water when we do our break and then before bed and after both, I apply the lotion!!! It truly makes a difference:)

Picked up the Burt's Bees Peppermint Foot and Leg Lotion at my local grocery store last night. The tube's not that big though so I won't be testing it out till after our first day in the parks.

To continue on with the foot lotion trend... I usually soak my feet in Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap and then use Burt's Bees peppermint foot lotion. I like it, but I have been lusting on the Lush website thanks to you ladies! Any recommendations on their foot care stuff?

I was just wondering if LUSH do anything for feet too!

brand new to discussion threads which have been really helpful, returning to WDW 1st week of July with DS (15) and hopefully DH if he can get off work. First trip since 2003 and first time staying on property (POP) since 1988. Being plus sized, does anyone know of any threads that have advice for plus size people, as far as fitting on rides, etc.?

I've seen a lot of threads about that. The concensus seems to be you should have a problem on most rides! :teeth:

Lemme see if I can find some threads for you.

heres one real quick: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1607303

The best way I find for searching the DIS threads is to put this into google

"site:disboards.com"

and then put what you are searching for in "" after wards so to find that thread I put

site:disboards.com "plus size" rides

you might wanna try the same doing "pooh shaped" or "pooh sized" as that's what a lot of DISsers say!! :)

Hope that helps you. :cutie:

thanks torsie24 and thanks for the tips on searching for threads, I was getting nowhere!

No problem - the forum searches are awful :sad2: but using that google method is really great i think. :)

One of my best friends just filled me in on a little secret.....she has super thick, curly hair like me. She can go 4-5 days w/out washing it by using a dry shampoo called "Psssst!" I'm not saying we should all go 5 days w/out washing our hair, but I'm curious to check out this product.

Think about being at MK all day & rushing back to your resort to get ready for signature ADRs or something. You could just spray your hair w/ Psssst & it would be as good as new! Yes, I know---it sounds gross to not get totally freshened up, but it could be so handy if you're in a time crunch. We always tend to push the time limits. My Walgreens was out the other day, but I need to check at CVS.

Has anyone found this at a local drug store, or did you have to order it?:confused3
