Vacation Strategy - cancellation

Has anyone else had any issue getting a refund from VS after cancelling a reservation?

What are the cancellation terms? Are you asking for an exception or are you asking for a refund which is allowed under the terms you agreed to when you rented? Are you entitled to a cash (credit card) refund or just a credit toward a future stay?

I don't know VS policy but a no refund policy is frequently applicable to those kinds of rentals. Renters sometimes purchase travel insurance .
 
They've been super easy to work with both booking, cancelling and rescheduling as long as you're clear on terms.
 
Cancelled well ahead of deadline for refund of my deposit. Now they will not call me back or refund my money. The first time I called to cancel they were very pushy and basically moved my reservation to a new date and lowered the rate so that I wouldn't cancel. Then I had to cancel and they acknowledged my cancellation but have not refunded my money nor will they call me back. I would never book with them again no matter how great the rate!
 

We use Vacation Strategy every summer for booking Bonnet Creek. We understand that the deposit is nonrefundable. They allow you to move the deposit to another date but never promise a refund (no matter what time frame you cancel in). This is an industry standard for most companies like VS.
They are a very reputable company. If you read thru the disboards and other similar boards I have never once (until now) seen anything negative about them. This leads me to believe there is more to this story or that you didnt understand the cancellation policy on the front end. Sorry you are having a bad experience.
 
I have booked with them twice, never had a problem. Their cancellation policy does state they will give a 100% refund if cancelling more than 20 days out. I would be very surprised if they did not honor their policy, given how much good will they have built up over the past few years with Dis'ers by being so reliable. I hope you get it sorted out soon...
 
We are currently having issue with a cancellation - but not with VS. we were advised to work through our credit card company. Which is what we are doing now. It is really frustrating. First we had to cancel due to school change because of too many snow days. And a rental that had a 60 day cancellation 100% refund refuses to refund even though we cancelled at 85 days!

I'm sorry to hear you're having this problem.

First, it's possible their contract says they will issue a check back to you and that it could take 4-8 weeks. This is relatively common, although annoying. Are you sure they haven't processed it already and it's just a bookeeping issue?

I think if not, then going to the CC company is a good start and link their FAQ site to the complaint with a timestamp of your RSVP with VS. We only use AMEX and CapOne because their complaint settlement department is superior to anything we've ever worked with before and so if something like this arose, they'd deal with it. You may also want to go to the FL Attorney General's office and file a complaint if you're really out of sorts here.

We've not had any problems with VS at all though with our issues in the past. They've been great. We've had much bigger problems dealing with WBC staff and billing issues, but never VS.

To be fair to both yourself and VS I suggest you post your original arrival date and your rescheduled arrival date along with your original reschedule contact date and the date of your final cancellation was made.

I am not sure why you are having an issue but I sent in a quote request and have been getting a new one every day in my email. i have also been corresponding back and forth with them via email. I have found them quick and insightful and have answred every question i asked. I am going to be booking with them in the next week or 2 for a 10 night stay at the end of September beginning of October. I found a private deal 50.00 cheaper but am going to go with them because of all the DIS positive posts. I would try asking for a quote again because maybe they never responded.
 
I booked a room with VS just this past Saturday. They called me because there was only one room left for my dates and my last quote did get completely booked. They were very helpful, I'm wondering if you had a typo in your email address or something? All the quotes I asked for they were very quick responding too and that was just last week!
