Hi,

I was thinking of staying off site at a vacation rental instead of staying on site for our next disney trip. Doing a cursory search, it appears that most vacation rentals are for 2-3 bedroom condos/TH/SFH. Since there are only two of us going, this seems like overkill, even though these are cheaper than staying on site.

Can anybody recommend a suitable resort for 2 adults only? A one bedroom condo would probably be ideal. We would stay in a hotel, but like having a full size kitchen, washer/dryer, etc. and vacation rentals seem like good deals.

Thanks!

Owners will not mind 'overkill' and you may find that many resorts do not have 1 bedroom condos. There was just the two of us on our last trip in November and we were in a 3 bedroom TH - never used the upstairs at all but really enjoyed the extra space, kitchen, living area and of course the private patio hot-tub :goodvibes It will be just as good value for you to look at the slightly bigger places - OK a 4 or 5 bed villa may be just a bit of overkill for 2 adults :rotfl:

Oooh, a private hot tub sounds fabulous. I haven't really seen any listings for that. Do you mind if I ask where you stayed?

Thanks!

We stayed on Coral Cay Resort off Highway 192. All townhomes with a private patio hot-tub :goodvibes

Mind telling me who you booked with? We are going in Dec and will have between 2 to 4 adults so I am looking into a condo.

I think she probably knows the owners very intimately. :rotfl:

My husband and I have stayed in anything from a 1 bedroom condo to a 5 bedroom pool home with a couple of 3 bedroom townhouses and 4 br pool home in between. It didn't bother us at all. If the price is right then go for it. We live at home in a 3 bedroom home by ourselves so why not on vacation if the price is right.

We are planning a trip with this exact same cirumstance. Trying to find a 2 week rental with either a hot tub outside or whirlpool tub inside. Most are 4 bedroom pool homes that we are getting quotes from. We have done this other years and ended up with 4 bedroom pool homes both times. So far no such animal as a one or two bedroom place with the hot tub/whirlpool that we want. I'm going to keep looking though!! Good luck with your search. :)

It makes sense that there are so few 2 bedroom or less places in Orlando-- after all, it is a family destination. I’ve found a lot of really affordable 3 bedroom condos/TH that look nice, but my DH really wants to stay on site for some reason. Can you give me some links to the pool homes you’re talking about? I haven’t really looked at more than 3 bedrooms. I expect that the extra pool heat cost really makes these out of our budget, but it never hurts to check. There are so many rental properties out there.

I think you can get so much more for your money renting off site, though there are advantages to staying on Disney property. I keep debating back and forth and have a hard time making a decision. If we do stay on site, we will probably do a value resort since I couldn’t convince DH that the moderates were worth trying out. But a lot of these vacation rentals cost almost the same as the value resorts and are only slightly farther out. We always rent a car, but if we stay off-site then parking fees will become important.

So many factors! It’s so overwhelming!

We stayed at Cypress Pointe Grand Villas a few yrs ago in 2BR for 3 of us. It had an awesome Jacuzzi too! Its sister resort, Cypress Pointe, has just be completely renovated and both can be rented very reasonably thru www.hotelkingdom.com. It's very close to DTD, about 1 mile.

You can see lots of photos at www.cypresspointe.net click on "phase 1 or 2?"
HTH and good luck making a decision. :goodvibes

We have always rented one or two bedroom condos in various places. My favorite is Sheraton Vistana.

we jsut recently stayed in a 1 bedroom at Summer Bay. But, there are lots of condos with 1 bedroom units....
