Vacation Planning Kit - strange?

I've always looked forward to the planning kit videos as a real treat between visits, but I just watched the newest DVD and it's...well...strange, compared to past kits. Just not very "Disney", I guess. The segments all seem truncated and disjointed, and waaay too many talking heads leaning in front of the camera when you're trying to see what they're talking about. Music isn't very Disney, either. The presenters just seemed too cutsie (and irritating) to take seriously.

I know it's free, but it was still disappointing. Nuts, I still need my Disney fix.

Anyone else think this, too?

I thought it was kinda refreshing after years of the same ole' thing. I've probably got a half-dozen videos that re-use some of the same ride and guest interview footage over and over again. It was nice to see a video that had almost 100% new content for once.

I'm another one who liked the new format. I thought that it was a pretty slick presentation.

Hi Just curious , when did you guys order the video?? I ordered it about a month ago from the wdw.com web site, and haven`t received it yet?? In these cold, snowy months in New Jersey, I love watching the various videos of WDW and DVC now and then, true alot of the interviews are the same ( I can repeat some ,word for word) yep, I think I`m starting to be Disney oppsessed !!! IS IT AUGUST YET!!! ??

I ordered mine on Christmas day when they advertized it during the WDW parade, I went to theit webiste and ordered it. It did say it would take 4-6 weeks to get it. I got it 1 day last week.

I really liked Dave in the video. He's my kind of WDW vacationer. And Luke is cool with his evaluation of the thrill rides. They kind of covered the bases for any type of viewer with this set up. And all four of the people were so much better than Krista on the Ten Best Tips show.

We got our DVD this week and ordered it while watching the Christmas parade on TV.

I agree, Dave is great! I like his vacation style. Now that I'm a DVC member I don't have to do WDW commando style and watching Dave was helping to remind me of that. Luke I wasn't too crazy about, as he is a little intense for my taste, but that's probably because the thrill rides are a little intense for me also. But it is so much better to watch such a detailed video and the old voice over one's and the same vacationers talking about their teip.
Did anyone play the trivia games on the bonus sections? How did you all do?

We thought the new DVD was great. Not the usually same old thing with just a few minor changes. Way to go Disney.

Oh, I ordered ours about 3 weeks ago.

Hey different strokes for different folks. I just finished watching it this morning and I thought it was OK...

I thought Dave was hilarious and the new footage and clips of the rides were GREAT but I loved and missed the Disney music. You know the whimsical feel to it???

Amen!!! The whole family thought that this year's version was a refreshing change. We really enjoyed this one.

I think they are always trying to stay current. You know more of the retro look in design and more appealing to the teens. Pretty good idea in marketing on Disney's part. Also, I think they need to stay up with Universal in the whole thrill ride thing. Just my opinion.

I guess I'm in the minority on this, I really didn't like it. I liked Dave but found the other people, especially Luke, annoying! They didn't really show the attractions too much. DS and I watched it and he kept asking "what about this ride?" We preffered the old format better but it did need some updating. But, like someone else said, it's free! I'd rather have this than nothing at all

I didn't mind the change, It was refreshing, but seemed like a Target or Old Navy commercial.. too many circles!
I did get dizzy due to the "LIVE CAMERA" feel.. i would have used the steady cam more than the handheld.... I didn't get through the whole thing yet, it must be hours of stuff... do they mention us DVC-ers? I did see the BCVillas as a seperate category.

We liked the planner. Really enjoyed the different approach. We also watch these on a regular basis when we need a fix. Glad we aren't the only ones!!
