We are thinking of going on our summer vacation here. DD(17) wants to see the Mall of America. What else is there to do and see besides MOA? DS(13) is not so thrilled about this, so I would like to find other things that we all could enjoy together....

Thanks in advance for the input....;)

Hmm...there's Lutsen..it's about 2.5hrs from Duluth which is 2.5 hours from Minneapolis. It's a ski hill in the winter but I think there might be stuff to do there in the summer. You can always drive 6 hours from Minneapolis and go to Canada! :cool1:

Lots of lakes for skiing, boating, fishing, etc.

The science museum of Minnesota is amazing - lots of great hands on stuff and an IMAX theater. Depending on when you go, there's sporting events, plenty of good theater & concerts, and of course tons of outdoor recreation.

I love museums, and the Twin Cities have plenty of good ones. Check out exploreminnesota.com for more ideas.

Oh, and I forgot to add that there's Valley Fair amusement park (lots of roller coasters, water slides, etc.) to the South of MOA as well...

Your DS13 will probably like the MOA when he gets here with the park formerly known as Camp Snoopy. There is also Underwater World at the mall and the new hotel near the mall with the indoor waterpark.

Not far from MOA is the Minnesota Zoo and in downtown St. Paul there is the Science Museum, which I just read is having a traveling exhibit with artifacts from Pompeii this summer. There are several other museums around the metro area.

In central MN there are hundreds of resorts that have fishing, boating, swimming, golf, you name it. Those are great vacation spots for families. A lot of it depends on what you like to do.

Duluth is fun with the ships coming in and out of the harbor, Lake Superior, etc.

Most Minnesota vacations I hear about involve a cabin on a lake, drinking lots of beer and fishing all day every day. Giant killer mosquitos also tend to figure in the story somewhere at least once.

We only say those things about mosquitoes to keep the Iowans out of MN :lmao: .

Thanks guys...I'll check those link out!!
