Hi! We are going down to disney on March 25th and want to stay for 9 days instead of the standard 7. There will be 16 of us and we want to rent 2 houses very close or next to each other. Can anyone give us recommendations of who we can book with.

you should go to orlandovillas.com. There is a discussion board for villa renters and many villa owners can help answer general questions. There is an active thread right now on this very question.

To get specific information about available villas, just fill out the form on that site. We are renting from them next month.

There are other places to look for villas (such as vrbo.com, villas200.com, cottagelink, etc.), but no other site I know of has these helpful discussion boards where all the owners know each other and all the villas are verified by the webmaster.

All of the villas on this site are rented direct from the owner. Another way to find close together villas would be to go through a mgmt co, such as the one recommended by allearsnet.com (can't remember which). I decided not to use a mgmt. co because you do not knwo until check in which exact villa you are getting and also I prefer to deal with the owner who can answer all my picky questions. Also, form my extensive research I found that homes were more expensive when you had to go through a middle man.

Good luck!

Hi Sharon,
because you're looking at getting two houses close together I think the best route for you to look at is by using a local management company. As Mainebound has said you do usually pay a little more to go through a management company, but there are advantages to doing so and in your situation I think it's by far the easiest route. You could search through all the individual villas on something like http://www.vrbo.com but it is likely to be a VERY long process and quite difficult to do. In order to give you the best chance of getting houses that are very close together you should look at one of the bigger management companies, the more homes a company manages, the better chance they will have multiple houses on a particular development. When I owned a vacation home I used http://www.pr-vacation.com they are one of the bigger companies and I was always happy with my dealings with them, both renting houses to stay and when they managed my property.

Being an odd number of days shouldn't be a problem, but you will be looking to rent over the Easter holidays when vacation homes get VERY busy with European visitors. I would suggest you make sure the management company confirms in writing that you will be getting two homes that are VERY close to each other. If you push the management company, you should be able to get them to commit to which houses you'd be getting, at the very least which development.

At http://www.windsor-palms-florida.net/ if you go to the bottom of the page, there are some links to search for homes close together. This is for the Windsor Palms resort which you can find a lot of info on if you search this board. Another helpful link is http://www.disneywindsorpalms.com/images/planhigh.jpg which has a layout of the entire resort. You would probably not get homes right next to each other, but they would be on the same street. Good luck!

I rented direct from an owner - she told me that that we saved about 30% by not going through her management company. Commissions are pretty high.

The people we rented from were have a website - www.disneyuniversalcondo.com. They own one unit and can get neighboring owners units as well as they did for us. We needed three 4BR and they got it for us at a good rate. We got three units all near each other and had room for 30 even though there were only 6 or 7 of us in each one.

I can tell you that alot of the homes on orlandovillas .com are booked -every day we owners post surplus for easter we can't handle and a lot get no takers.
Try one of their sister sites
http://www.villasflorida.com/
http://www.onlinefloridavillas.com/

as these owners may be better placed to help you .There will be a section you can tick so that your inquiry goes to people on the same subdivision so although yopu may not be next door you will be somewhere near .
