vacation home recommendations!help...

Finding a rental home should never be a hassle, or misleading or a reason to stress. Try looking at reallyflorida.com. I have used them, they have very attractive rates, and extended low seasons when most of the others are in mid to high season during the same dates. The home you see is the home you get, even better than the pictures or video in my experience, immaculatly clean, as advertised, and you can see the booking calender and open dates for each property before you even make the first call.

Reallyflorida handles properties west of I4. The rates are straight forward, but do not include tax. You go straight to the home. I have yet to deal with the management company once I have paid them.

check this website springvacationrentals.com

they have several homes rented direct by owner.

we have used this website to book a rental in the past.

I disagree about Credit Cards. I have a villa in Terra Verde and I do not accept credit cards. There is a fee to use a Credit Card and someone has to pay. It is usually the guests. Most times the rates are a bit higher when cards are accepted.
Ask for references.

Hi there!! Just wanted to let you know that we rented in Terra Verde over Easter (a 4-bdrm townhome) and we really LOVED your nice neighborhood! I very much enjoyed our stay there.

The maintenance company we went through was www.americasdreamvacations.com and they were EXCELLENT.

We accept checks, credit cards through our MC, and Paypal. Credit cards and Paypal definitely are more expensive, but our rationale is that people want to use it to pay, so we give them any options they want. Thing is, credit cards DO give you all kinds of additional protections you don't get other ways, like the ability to dispute charges if someone has a major problem. (I work for Visa in real life). It would hurt our bookings too much to not accept credit cards, and there's just too many people in today's world who want to use them, but there are surcharges we pass along part of. (This is legal in some states, not in others before this debate gets started, remember, I work for Visa). Another thing you can do, as an owner at least (or as a guest too I suppose) is ask if there's any discount for paying via check (cash really). The fees are pretty steep, often as high as 5% of the transaction, but we really feel that we have no choice! By the way, owners, Costco offers a very reasonably priced merchant account for accepting credit cards, one of the least expensive I've seen!

How do you really know? Simple...in Florida the county website lists the owners of every single piece of real estate / property, all you need is the owner's name or the property address and you can go look it up, right online, for free!

The address will many times be required as many properties are owned by trusts. The name of the owner of record may not be the same as the owner's last name.

CallieMom, before you book with Bahama Bay please read the posted reviews on the Hotels and Accommodations board. My experience and others was not ideal when we stayed there March 2007. The trip reports do vary on trip advisor as well, but at the very least they prepare you for the difficulties you could experience depending on where THEY decide to put you. The price may seem reasonable because you are in Davenport, but be prepared to spend a lot of your vacation in the car travelling to the parks, restaurants and malls. The accommodations are not always ideal! PM me if you have any questions :sad2:

Next February we are staying in a 6 bedroom home with 5 baths in Solana Resort it has its own pool, hot tub, games room, two living rooms, 52 inch TV and smaller TVs in each bedroom. We are paying $1300 including taxes and pool heat. We got quotes for some lovely pool homes in Davenport and they were all between $1000-$1300 including taxes and pool heat.

Do you have a link to this one?

We've tried a few different places but the last three visits have been with Florida Leisure. Homes are always clean and we like the locations they have the homes in. A big plus is that they remember us and treat us like valued customers.

Hi althought I'm quite new on here, i have been going on vacation to Florida for many years, and staying in vacation homes.

If you are unsure about renting direct from the owner then consider going to Allstarvactions, florida spirit of Florida Leisure they are all good companies.

If you are a bit more adventurous then Vrbo as already mentioned is a good one as is orlandoexclusivevillas.com

It all depends on what you are comfortable with.

Christine,
We loved it so much we bought a 6 BR 5.5 Bath in Terra Verde. We loved the location. We feel being on the East side of Disney is much better than thew west side. All areas are more accessable and less congested and you never have to deal with I4. Let me know the next time you need a townhome there and I will put you in contact with a few of the owners directly.
