Vacation Detail Problem at DVC Website

I have a question for anyone who might have had something similar happen to them. Should I worry about this or not?

I was just checking an upcoming reservation at the DVC website. While on the "vacation detail" screen I glanced down to a recently completed vacation listing. We stayed in two two-bedrooms Dec 16-23 at BWV but I had to waitlist the last night for each room. The points used for that particular night's ressie was 32 for each room. We had two ressies for the same thing, but one of them is now showing 46 points used and the other is showing 32 points used. They both showed 32 points used until I checked tonight.

This makes no sense to me. The number of points remaining in our account is correct as if we were charged 32 for each night. Any ideas why one would show more points used after the fact? The exact points used for this stay were transfered in specifically for this stay.:confused3
 
Our vacation details is all wacko too, but our remaining point balances are correct so I don't worry about it.
 
The DVC computers have been known to have problems.

Your best bet is to keep track of your accounts/points and check them regularly. We have caught several errors and had them fixed.

The fact that your remaining points is correct is a good thing, but I might call anyway, just to find out why its wrong.

Did you check out the contract activity link? That will show what they did and may give you insight on how it happened.

If not, then call as you don't want to check it in a month from now and see that the balance has gone down.
 

I used up the 6 remaining banked 2009 points, all of my 2010 points and all of my 2011 points, PLUS 8 points that I'd transferred in for our April 2010 trip. When I called to change our standard room to a savanna view (using the transferred points), they told me that I still had 28 2010 points left! I tried to tell the CM that there is no way I could have 2010 points left if I've already BORROWED all of my 2011 points. She insisted it was correct so I gave up. I called back the next day and they confirmed that MY total was correct, but they were still showing 28 points:confused3. The website showed that I had points too. I was almost thinking that I'd been pixie-dusted:lmao: except I knew it was an error. They did end up clearing it up, but I wonder what would have happened if I would have tried to use those points, or worse, transfer them to someone else:scared1:.

Thanks for the reply. I just checked the activity link and it doesn't give any clues either why my points for that one night stay shows 14 more than it should. It does show my bottom-line number of points available to me is correct though. I guess since the entire ressie was made with transfered in points it doesn't even show those transactions.

I probably will give MS a call just to find out why it would look like that. We never made any room changes and we checked out of the rooms at 8:30am so there shouldn't be any extra charges (in points). I don't know if there would ever be any charges in points for anything, but I guess that's a question for another post. :)
 
Reporting back in case this help someone else....... I called today and according to MS our incorrect point usage shown on our completed night was just a "known computer issue that they are working on". The CM said that as long as my bottom-line in remaining points is OK I shouldn't be concerned. Thanks for your input.

I had the same thing happen. The point total for a week at THV was more than what I had actually used. I called MS to bank points and confirmed that the total balance that I had was correct. I have not checked back to see if it has been resolved.

Maybe the DVC computers could use some pixie dust

I also had "points used" problems (showed as 54 instead of 45) but the total remaining was correct. I sent an e-mail out and was told it will be fixed.

Thanks for posting. I'm glad we're not alone. The analytical side of me would really like to know what caused the error, but I guess I may never know.
 
I would guess that the computer system may not have been updated correctl with the points chart change or may have been updated early for next year's point chart change(if it happens).

Interesting . . . our stay (which was recorded wrong on the website) was around this same timeframe.
 
I had two reservations the same week in Sept. -- one for a 2 br at Kidani, the other a 1 br at BLT. The points used for each reservation at Dvcmember are incorrect, but my remaining 2010 points are accurate. I called MS in a panic, and the CM told me not to worry unless the points remaining were inaccurate. She said "It's what we have here, not on the website that counts." Nothing has changed on those two reservations since last October, and my remaining points are still accurate. I just keep watch and keep my fingers crossed.
 
I wouldn't worry about any of it. I have a reservation going back to last March that had the correct point total until it was listed under completed vacations and then the point total changed but my points are correct. I then had it happen with 2 other reservations. It appears to be another disney computer mishap.

This same thing happend last year. Our vacation used points were showing different totals but our remaining points were fine. As it turned out what was incorrectly showing equated to the new point charts for 2010. It may not be the same this year but I wouldn't bet against it.
