vacation destination east coast?

OP- sorry for highjacking your thread :goodvibes

I wanted to give this a bump back up to see if anyone else had any thoughts on some of the coastal areas in the spring- temp-worth going to wise.

Block Island is wonderful for a weekend away to eat, stroll, and shop but there's really not much to do for a longer period of time (same with Nantucket). If you stayed in Newport you'd be able to ferry over to Block Island and also head to the Mystic area which is a lot of fun.

Never been to Myrtle Beach. Is it to spring breakish? We'd go in the summer anyway, but just wondering if it's lots of wild and crazy college kids? We a married couple in our 30s no kids.

Not at all! Several years ago, it used to be a party place right after High School graduations, & the week of the 4th of July. It has become much more than a beach town now. It's more of a family, resort area destination. It's kind of like Branson, MO, Pigeon Forge (but on a larger scale), or even Orlando (minus the theme parks) with a beach. They have the shows, dining, shopping, & entertainment that Orlando has.

Would it be warm enough to visit the Outer Banks in mid-April??? How about all the way down to Hilton Head-- would that be warm enough?? We are looking to head somewhere the day after Easter for that week. I know it's going to be a popular travel week, but I'm confident we'll find accomdoations somewhere we decide to go.

I like the distance to the Outer Banks--but don't want it to be too cold. Also, wouldn't mind Hilton Head and Charelston split-- but thats a bit father for 5-6 days.

The Outer Banks are definitely not warm enough for us that early in the year. You could get lucky with the air temp., & the weather be beautiful & warm. Unfortunately, it could also be on the cool side. :( The water temp. will most definitely be cold. North Carolina is such a beautiful state. Have you considered doing an inland vacation, instead of going to the beach?

A split HH & Charleston trip would be perfect. HH is great! The beach is very nice, & not at all crowded. Again, we think it's more of a long weekend destination. We can only shop, eat, & play mini-golf so much, until we're looking for some other type of entertainment. :p Charleston is another of our favorite destinations. It's a lovely city. This would be a wonderful trip.
