Vacation Dates have to start within Pin dates to count?

Hey Everyone

So here is the deal, got a pin for the room discounts 30/35/40% like some people are getting. Tried to use the pin to book a package with a room discount, but because our dates start 2 days before the dates that the pin is avaiable for we are unable to take advantage of it even for the days that fall between the listed dates on the pin code.

So basically if the first date of your vacation falls anywhere in a blackout date period you have to book a whole separate package for the dates that fall within the pin date brackets to use the pin, which means booking separate park tickets which eats up any savings you might have obtained.

I was suprised by this. If you start your trip on the first date that the pin applies you can add days on the end if you are staying longer the pin offers but you can't do this for the start of your trip without making a whole new reservation.

I was wondering if this would be the same for free dining if that came out later in the year? We booked at rack rate with hopes that something would come out later but I am not sure anything would help. We are not flexable with the dates due to my daughters birthday so we are limited.

Thanks for your input, has anyone had experience with this?:confused3

That is exactly what happens for a package PIN, like free dining: You must check in on a date that is part of the promotion. Note, though, that with free dining, you can keep it for the entire length of stay even if you check in on the final date of the free dining promotion.

With a room-only discount, it should be different, though. Because the room rate changes every day, you should be able to get the discount for the days on which it applies.

I would call and see if another CM can help you.

Same thing happened to us. Pin is only good from sunday to sunday which really isn't what we wanted...we wanted to do Friday to the following Saturday. The CM said (after MANY times putting me on hold) that the only way to do that with a package would be to book our package (room, tickets, dining) for the sunday to sunday and we would have to book a separate room only res. for Friday and Saturday at full price WITHOUT being able to use the dining plan those days. We would however be able to add extra park days onto our week long package so the tickets weren't the issue, but I'm really peeved that we would have to pay rack rate to stay the 2 extra days at the beginning and wouldn't be able to keep using our dining plan for the extra days.

Also peeved that if we wanted to EXTEND our days at the end instead of at the beginning, we still could have booked it all together as a package and been able to use the dining plan for our full stay. Very displeased with how this is all run... :sad2:

Is this true? I got a pin code email and some of the dates for the offer were Sunday to Saturday. We like going midweek to midweek, so I put in Wednesday to Wednesday dates online and it quoted me rack rate for the last 3 nights.

Example:
Wed, Oct 26 $ 106.60
Thu, Oct 27 $ 106.60
Fri, Oct 28 $ 113.10
Sat, Oct 29 $ 113.10
Sun, Oct 30 $ 164.00
Mon, Oct 31 $ 164.00
Tue, Nov 01 $ 164.00

We aren't going this year anyway, just playing around while Disney toys with me by sending discount codes to tempt me. :)

What I was told for the room discount pin is that you CAN add days onto the end of your PACKAGE reservation and still be able to keep it all under ONE reservation and package. However, the extra days that you extend PAST the end date of the pin code WILL be charged at rack rate. The only difference is that you'd at least be under one reservation and be able to utilize the dining plan for your entire stay if you've chosen that.

The way we wanted to do it to add a few days onto the BEGINNING of our res. that weren't covered under the pin code dates, we would have to book as an entirely separate reservation or else pay rack rate for our entire stay, even the days that were covered by the code...it's VERY confusing in my opinion...

That is all correct - like it or not, that's how it works. Many people would just do a room-only reservation for those beginning days and then a package/discount for the other days. But you can't get dining with a room-only reservation.

OK, I get it now. I misunderstood the other poster. I was reading it as you can get those "extra" days at the same discount. Duh!

Thank you!
