Hey girls and guys,

I got a quick question. For my wedding/honeymoon two week event...lol. we are using my parents vacation club to get a villa in the Wilderness Lodge so my question is....for those of you that used the DVC for your room, what did you do with the complimentary room that Disney gives you???????

Here's my convoluted plan...

We're thinking of asking a couple of friends to host an "after-party" at our 1 bedroom villa (thanks to the fridge and full kitchen!).
We figured we'd let them stay in the room as a thank-you, saving them from spending $$ on a room that night.
And our wedding night, we'd sneak away from the fooferall and head to our honeymoon suite.

You can get $$$ back for the room. That's what we're doing. They are just giving us the money back for one night. However they only reimburse you for a standard room so it was like $300 for us when they charge the gen public $600 a night. Oh well.

wow both of those are great options!! Thanks!!!

Now I saw some couples got champagne delivered to their rooms on their wedding night. If you dont take their free room do they still hook you up at your DVC room?? LOL

We used all of our points for a Grand Villa for the 3 days leading up to and the day of the wedding as well as for our wedding party and immediate family. However, we're using our complimentary night at a hotel I know we'll never stay at since we get max value of our points at DVC. My thoughts - extend your stay by one night - and save the points.

Just FYI, we're staying at BWV using our points. And they assumed we'd want to stay there for the rest of our trip and returned $90 to us...
I thought that was such a low # that I decided to change resort...
Now we're staying for 2 nights at GF. The 1 night is complimentary and they were able to upgrade us to concierge level... :yay: Which is about $500+/night... way better than the $90 money back. :cool1:

We are using our free room night on a Saturday night since weekend night points (Fri & Sat) are a premium compared with week nights (Sun-Thur). We already planned on switching resorts anyways, so it won't be a big deal. We are staying at the BWV's during the 1st week, then moving over to WL for our free night, then over to VWL for the 2nd week. And just as an FYI, you don't have to use your free night on your wedding night. We are getting married on a Thursday and using our free night on Saturday. :thumbsup2

If I don't have to use it on the wedding night then I was thinking of using it the day before to stay at the boardwalk with my bridal party and mother since I am getting married at SBP. It may be easier for me to do that. Can you use the free room any night??

The only thing about using it the day before the wedding is that then you have to go check out of your hotel and into another on yer wedding day :sad2: (Unless you have a room somewhere else that you're just not using).

We used ours for the last night so we could finish the trip with a bang and not have to check in and out for just one night in the middle of the trip....

We are also DVC members staying st the BWV for our event. We are using our free GF night on the night of the VR to use as a ready room and then after the event and my sister takes my kids back to the BWV - DH and I will have a little time alone!

My DF will be staying at the villa at the WL the day before so my stuff will already be there. I am just going to take what I need to the Boardwalk so that should work out.

We're DVC but we're actually splitting our honeymoon. For the first few days we will be paying cash for GF, then 3 days after the wedding we switch to SS (on the waiting list for BWV) and using points for the remaining 3 nights. However, for the free room I booked a garden suite @ BWV for the night before for just me and my bridesmaids. That way we have somewhere nice to get ready at AND concierge service!! :) DF will be at our room at GF getting ready. It was a $650 value!! For free :) We didn't want to stay together the night before the wedding, so it worked out great.

oh..PS~~ We're getting married @ SBP too..so its perfect :)

See now that is what I want to do but then my mom came up with well what if you have to check out at 11am. then what do you do? I never thought of that one. I am really confused!! LOL

Well, if you're paid up, you don't have to actually go to the desk to check out - you just leave. You could have bell services store or transfer your luggage while you're at the wedding.

ahh very true!! you are so wise! :goodvibes

There are so many options. I have plenty of time to decide I guess. It will be used somehow whether I stay in it or i get the money for it. :)

exactly!! thats what im doing :) I'm just bringing stuff with me for one night, then packing it all up in one big bag to hand off to bell services. (I'll have one of my BM's or my mom run it over before we leave.)

AND..if its your honeymoon and they aren't booked up for the next day you may be able to request a late check out for 1pm. :)

Then, after our reception and before our JellyRolls after party, we'll grab the bag from bell services and stash it in my FMIL's room to grab later (they'll be at BC) or run it over to GF. :)

I'm sure you'll get it all figured out. :goodvibes

I am staying at the Beach Club and was given the option of having a concierge level room for my complimentary night or given $90. I took the concierge room! :goodvibes
