So I am disappointed after calling Member
Services a few mins ago. Before becoming a member I would receive
"Welcome Mail" before an upcoming vacation. The welcome mail would have
Stickers for the kids, coupons, reservation(s) and maybe a
another surprise (bit of pixies dust). Today they say they do not
send anything like that, all they can do is send a
email conformation of reservation. My question is
have you ever received a welcome package/mail as a
Member? I would think being a member we would continue to get
"special " treatment.

don't expect that kind of "special" treatment.

you are not so much a member now as an owner. if they did send member mail for DVC vacations, they would just raise your annual dues rates to pay for it.

you can look on the DVC member site to see what DVC-related discounts are being offered. but if you are really disappointed, then you should have done more homework ahead of time in order to better understand DVC. (we would have warned you. honest.)

I have no desire to pay for mail with stickers about an upcoming vacation. The big thing to remember with being an owner is that w=everything you get you are paying for in your dues.

Take a look at the Portable Perks. I think you can access it online now on the members' website but you will get a paper copy when you check in for your stay. It includes a list of discounts available to members. We get discounts at certain restaurants and shops and for many of the tours.

The Portable Perks is no longer included in the welcome packet at check-in. They are available upon request from the front desk.

Just a question not asking anyone to spend more money than they already are. Thanks for those helpful answers :) I have my magical express tags and excited about those.

When we first joined, we received Disney coloring books (as we mentioned we had grandchildren we would be taking to Disney)

I agree. If you're looking to have something for the kids, you could always "set" something up yourself.

Cash guests receive all sorts of things to keep them happy and coming back.

DVC owners come back due to their ownership so those type of extras aren't necessary.

I have received "See Ya real soon cards " for our last two DVC visits. Is this unusual?

We have received those too. However, we have been members since September 2010 and we have never gotten any sort of package like the one the OP mentioned. How awesome for them to get that....kind of jealous here :goodvibes.

Since 2000 all I've gotten before a DVC stay is a confirmation letter or email (most of the time).

We received an information packet after we booked our DVC at Aulani. I think it was because its new though because we have never received one before.
