Has anyone ever rented a home from this company? They are showing pool homes starting at $80 a night in September, 4 bedroom/3bath in a gated community. Are they clean and safe? This seems almost too good to be true. Thanks for all of your input!!
Make sure you find out which community! It might be pretty far away, but I'm not too surprised you can get a great rate on a home in September, it's probably the least busy month in WDW in general!
We were just there ourselves in September, the parks were practically empty, that aspect of it was GREAT! The bad part was it was still VERY humid and rained nearly every single afternoon, so much so that we said we'd never go back in Sept again, we'd wait for October!
We met Kaysmommie there actually (another DISser in the parks! but we didn't know it at the time, ran into one another on here later on)... and she said the same thing.
Keep in mind it's the end of hurricane season too...our trip was actually delayed by Ernesto rolling through Orlando, they cancelled all of the flights at the last minute, fortunately we were able to push the whole trip back 3 days, and our house was still "open" to let us do this.
Is it actually called vacation by the mouse or bighousebythemouse?? We rented from them (big house) and it was fantastic, although the home was about 5 extra minutes away and you had to use a toll road to get there the quickest. Not sure how many bedrooms you are seeing at that rate but it seems like a LOT less than others (but it is the low season). YOu can always ask the house to give you some references or testimonials??
I just made my reservation with Vacation by the Mouse for November. This is my first time renting from them. I will let everyone know after my stay there what it was like.

Looks like this is a neighborhood called High Grove that's quite a bit further out than it seems most people here stay. It's definitely further away than I'd want to be given how many close-by options there are like Windsor Palms, Windsor Hills, Emerald Island, and others in the Formosa Gardens area. I've driven to the Super Wal-Mart that's out that way, and it would add about 15 minutes additional to the drive each way compared to a place like Windsor Palms. And that's with minimal traffic on 192, I think. Their website says 10-15 minutes to Disney, but that's not at all realistic in my opinion. I'd say that Windsor Palms is 10-15 minutes away, and it's a whole lot closer!
I am looking at a home in Sandy Ridge. Where is the one that you have booked for November? It looks like a great deal, for the money. I am okay with driving an extra 20 minutes for comfort and a GREAT price.

This is the first time renting from them. We are booked in a 6 bedroom house with them for our April/ May 07 trip. This is a new property of theirs that is in Emerald Island. This is the only one they have in Emerald Island. The price is awesome. They have been great to work with, have answered all our questions quickly. Shane & Heather have been extremely accommodating. I can't wait to get there, just to see this house and come back to post a review!!!!!
We stayed in this general area on our last trip. If it is just off of 192, it won't be too bad. We stayed at Regal Palms which is not far from the junction of 27 and 192 and even the day we hit a lot of traffic and every traffic light, when we timed it, it took 10 minutes to get to the Sherbeth Road shortcut that we used when we stayed in Windsor Palms.
