So, as some of you may know from some of my previous threads, I am on VACATION ( :cool1:  :cool1:) for the next TWO WEEKS starting on Friday!!! Unfortunately, I will be home alone most days while my husband and friends are working.

I have a few things I plan on doing... some cleaning, some baking, filing two years worth of photos into albums (yes, I enjoy photo albums), and some shopping.

But I have 14 days... the above mentioned can be accomplished in a week or less.

What are some other fun SOLO "staycation" (;) I know that term "grates on some nerves", so I had to use it!) activities that I can do to make my vacation a little more fun?

Just to add... I don't like the spa, manicures, pedicures or massage. Sorry.

How about The Henry Ford or Detroit zoo?
movies
a spa day
street fairs
Monroe county fair
horseback riding
beach or pool
Frankenmuth/Bronners
walk in the park
bowling
reading
Detroit river cruise from Wyandotte's heritage park
visit the metroparks in the area
visit parents/grandparents/relatives that younever see except funerals or weddings

I had a staycation last week. My husband and son were at boy scout camp and my daughther was at camp, too. Have a wonderful week.

A movie day! Matinees are cheaper, less crowded, and quieter. There are some really good movies out there. Maybe see more than one!

Go to the public pool or local swimming place, grab a great book, and indulge in nothingness.

Take a walk through the public park. Bike on the bike trail. You can rent one if you don't own.

Around here we have places that for a king's ransom will let you buy their pottery, you can paint it, and they will put it in the kiln for you. Can be quite fun.

Nap!!

I love to hit the matinees and see movies that no one else will see with me. I also enjoy browsing in museums and maybe talking a walk through the zoo.

I echo the solo matinee idea! Grab some popcorn and a drink and enjoy some movie your DH would NEVER see with you.

Maybe rent some movies or tv series (True Blood?)

Do you live near a park, beach or lake? Grab a book and a picnic lunch and head out to enjoy the sun.

Undertake a craft project.

Find a cooking class or something else you'd like to try.

I know you said no spa stuff, but if I had 2 weeks of free time I'd be hitting the gym every morning (late) and then following it up with a different treatment every day. Mani/pedi, facial, massage ahhhhhhhhh!

Some good books, some movies dh wouldn't want to watch (both at home and at the theater), and maybe start a new hobby. Have fun!!

It has been ages since I have been in Michigan, but these were on my to-do list:

Macinack Island (sp?)
Holland
Frankenmuth

Go to book store or coffee shop and have a latte and read a magazine.
Garden

If I had that two weeks at home, I would do some combination of the following: have a mani/pedi, go to the movies, visit a local museum, go to the beach to walk, visit a couple of the toursity type things in my area that I never do on a normal basis, get a coffee at an outdoor cafe and people watch for a few hours, watch some trashy reality tv shows, work on some craft projects, cook some bigger/more elaborate meals than I usually do,, go visit some of my friends that I don't see very often for lunch or something like that.

Yeah, I'd have no problem filling two weeks.:woohoo:
