Apols if this has already been posted but noticed today that VA have changed the number of points earned for some classes as from Dec 2008

http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/frequentflyer/earnmiles/earn_miles_table.jsp

Some of the economy classes which earned 100% base miles previously will now only earn 50%. (there may be other changes but we only fly econ!).

Feels to me that the Flying Club becomes less worthwhile as every year passes.

All the airlines are doing this. When the times are hard they offer perks to acquire and hold on to loyal customers. When the good times come they start snipping away at the frequent flyer program to reduce the costs. Also, with this move VS are just coming into line with a lot of the other operators who already have reduced mileage accrual rates for the cheaper fares. They know the types of customers that they are trying to hook with their frequent flyer program and will offer the most value to that group. They obviously don't feel any need to try and attract the bucket and spade customers on the deeply discounted tickets, these people are fickle and swayed by price only.

:) Chris.
