We will be doing twilight check in and staying at the hilton. Last year I was able to take our overnight bag down the next morning and check it in. I have read that a few people have had problems with this. Has anyone done it recently?

When we have stayed over at the Hilton we have just taken our normal hand luggage. We take our old tooth brushes and paste and dump them in the morning (we have new stuff for the holiday).

We did this in December and just took left over toothpaste (which was then thrown out), shower gel was courtesy of the hotel and then we bought the small Nivea deodorant sprays (only 100ml size) which you are then allowed in the little plastic bag for hand luggage. Travel size of anything that you need can go in hand luggage.

A small hand luggage case was all we used so no worries about checking anything in the next morning - worked out great :thumbsup2

What do you do with yesterday's clothes and all of the other stuff you don't want to stuff in your hand luggage?

Don't you just wear the same clothes for two days? Put your dirty undies in a bag, tie it up and put it at the bottom of your carry-on?

All we do is check into hotel, have a shower, get changed into travel clothes, put that days dirty clothes into suitcase. Then we wonder over to twilight check in. We also take old toothpaste etc that can just be chucked away on the morning we leave. :goodvibes we also take undies to change into obviously, and like the previous poster tie old ones in a bag and put in hand luggage.

Not sure what we will do this year as we are going on ME and have herd horror stories of people not getting bags for ages and ages. I think i'll try and squeeze a change of clothes in our hand luggage just to be safe..

We are staying at the Hilton next month and we are going to park overnight at the car park behind the hotel which you have to pay for and then take the car to the long stay car park next morning. That way we can put our overnight baggage in the boot. It just means another nights car parking charge, but we have to pay that anyway because of the parking package we have.

I thought about wearing the same clothes but what about pjs and other bits, I would rather pay the extra and be able to put the bag in the boot of the car:thumbsup2

We wore old undies & socks & binned them!

it was just DH & I . I wore an large tshirt & slept in it then packed it in my handlugage & wore a clean one the next day,

Hey if it was just me and my partner (and no rugrats along), who needs a t-shirt to sleep in??? :lmao:

Thats exactly what we're planning to do - and take the last of our current toiletries and dispose of them too.

Its the first time we've done twilight check-in so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Forgeot to say we're not bothering with night clothes - sleeping in my pants. I so hope that there is not a fire alarm or anything!!!!

That's a good idea :)

We will take a small bag with us, and park the car the following morning with the overnight stuff left in the car.

LOL!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

I will be taking a change of clothes for all of us so won't fit it in the hand luggage with the camera, lenses, flashgun, camcorde,r macbook and some spare clothes for DS(2) for the flight!

We are fling in from Belfast too so putting the bag in the car is not an option. I am hoping there will not be big queues at PE if I try to check it in the next morning.

Thanks for all the replies!:)

I don't really understand this thread.
If you check in on line, why take your bags the night before to Twilight checkin?
Why not just go to fast bag drop the next morning?

We always check in on line then go to the desks the next morning.

It just seems so much easier than trying to off load another bag the next morning? or am I missing something?

Hi, just wanted to say that I don't think it will be a problem... PE queues are rarely long or you could use fast bag drop to drop the extra bag (if that queue is shorter than PE). Since you would have already all checked-in the night before, only one of you would need to queue up to check the extra bag (just remember to take your boarding pass and passport with you). So you can leave the rest of the family to finish breakfast or something whilst you check the bag.

Best Wishes,
Alice

They just like to get rid of most of their bags the night before - it makes particular sense for Jockey (who is arriving by plane and doesn't need to lug the extra bags to the hotel at all). As I just mentioned, if you use twilight check-in the night before with the whole family, only one family member needs to go back to check the extra bag (could be easier if you have kids etc).

Personally, I agree with you: we always use OLCI 24 hours before departure and then check the bags the next morning. That works just great for us, but I guess that different things work for different people...
