I have a few aairmiles - not a lot but I have just noticed they expire in November 2010. I don't really want to lose them so I just wondered if anybody could tell me what I can do with them.

I have about 18,000.

I have already booked to go to Orlando next August with Virgin holidays - it says I good look to upgrade to Premium Economy with Miles plus money starting from 7,500 miles. COuld I do this to an existing booking with VH??

Other than that are they basically worthless???

You have to buy the correct economy ticket to be able to upgrade for 7,500miles, I highly doubt a VH flight qualifies.

If you don't want to lose them and keep them for a future trip get a Virgin credit card, use it once for a few £, you get a 3,000 mile bonus on the first time you use it and it will then extend your miles for 3 years.

we have just used some of our miles to pay £250 of our flydrive with virgin holidays 5 0f us used 10000 miles each, which was changed into a voucher for £50 each so we got £250 in total.
l we rang flying club they sent us e vouchers which we forwarded to accounts at virgin holidays and they deducted the money from our balance

Rachel, how long did the process take - we were hoping to do the same thing but our balance is due next month and I fear I may have left it too late.

If you are travelling next August you can claim your miles and then your account gets another three years until it expires :)

Joh~ we only found out we could do this a week before our balance was due,
virgin holidays were happy to let us bay the balance minus the vouchers and they sent everything via email they say it will take another 7 days to apply to our account so you should have plenty of time :thumbsup2

Another way, if you like wine, is to buy the occasional case of wine from Virgin Wines. You get points from that (750 per case I think).

Everytime you put points onto your flying club account, it moves the expiry date onto 3 years from the date of the spend.
