V-Room

Hi Deb,
Where did you get that info from please-about the V Room being free for Frequent Virgins on first visit
It's on the Frequent Virgins' website under Member Benefits:

As a valued Frequent Virgin Club member we're delighted to offer you a special introductory treat to the amazing new V ROOM. You and up to three other people will receive complimentary entry on your first visit to the V ROOM when you book your Virgin Holiday before 1st April 2009 for departures up until 30th April 2009.

I hope that is the case, though as deb said doing the Math the difference in price will make up for the lack of free drinks, however Ive got images of the place being over run with screaming kids, will wait and see what people think of it before I book.
I meant to mention that the guy dh spoke with told him that there will be a "Couples Only" area.

Can someone explain these lounges to me. If you are booking flights only with VA can you still book into the lounge. Are they only for upperclass passengers or can anyone pay the extra for entry into the lounge.

The Clubhouses are free for UC passengers and Flying Club Gold Members. Virgin Holidays also has an allocation available for sale to its customers (£35 for Gatwick and £65 for Heathrow). We always book flights only with Virgin Atlantic, but we've never had a problem booking the lounge with VH. They invariably ask for a booking reference, but we simply say that we've booked flights only and it's never been an issue.

The same appears to be true of the V ROOM. All the available information clearly states that it's available only to VH customers, but we were able to book it.

Hello folks
Phoned virgin today regarding the v-room at gatwick and they have now told us that the v-room does not open untill june and that we will receive a letter that is already in the post stating this, also we will get a refund. hope this helps anybody out there going soon like us.we are disappointed but we will soon be at wdw:yay: :yay: :yay:

I've had the letter today, dated March 31st.

It says it will not now open until June( no date given).

It goes on to say that there is no other option available to offer, but surely they could have offered the exisiting lounge?

Also it says they will refund immediately.I've checked my credit card online and there is no refund showing yet.

I phoned them and they just repeated what was in the letter.

When I asked about the refund they said thay would action it now and it would take 7-10 days to appear on my card.

I did ask if there were any alternative lounges available and I was told no!

Dave

Seems like the V-ROOM is the new VH alternative to the clubhouse. I called today and the lady told me that from the "end of the summer" (whenever that is?) no more tickets to the Virgin Clubhouse will be sold for VH customers, it will be exclusively for flying club gold members and upper class passengers. She said the clubhouse was "too often at capacity" and that "the high level of service to UC and gold passengers was being compromised" (!!!). We have never seen it overly busy in there. :confused3

Oh well, hope the V-Room will still be nice even if it's not as good as the clubhouse.

We have never seen it overly busy in there. :confused3

i guess that depends on your definition of busy!? :confused3 i suppose they've got a target of number of guests per member of staff (somewhere around the level of the UC suite on the flights) and are currently missing that target.

The V Room is only available to Virgin Holidays' customers. Frequent Virgins receive complimentary entry on first visit if booked before 1st April 2009 (for departures up until 30th April 2009). It's also free if you book a VH Platinum package. After that, Frequent Virgins receive a 10% discount off the usual entry fee of £15 per adult, £10 per child (2-11).

I have checked FVC website but cannot see the 1st entry comp visit anywhere. All I can find is the 10% discount.

Any Ideas?

Sorry if I'm being an Essex Girl, but that is what I've done, but still only have the following quote:-
""V nice

Now you really can start your holiday before you've even taken off and say goodbye to hanging around crowded, dull departure lounges. The V ROOM is a totally new concept from Virgin Holidays - a dedicated lounge for all our customers flying from London Gatwick opening in Spring 2008.

As a valued Frequent Virgin Club member we're delighted to offer you 10% off entry to the V ROOM*. Normal entry is £15 per adult and £10 per child (2-11). Infants are free.

To book, call 0844 5579268""

Do I have to give up my 10% discount to get free entry?
