V-Room

The only info that Virgin have disclosed about the opening is Spring 2008-no exact date yet.
We are going to book this as it does look great and the facilities sound FAB.We received a voucher from Virgin for 10% off so will be using that.x.

Just wondering if anyone knows when the v-room actually opens at gatwick?

The aim, was the 1st week in May, but apparently that has already slipped to the beginning of June.

Hopefully it'll be open for the summer.

Well I've already booked our V-Room tickets, with the 10% discount - although the idiot who booked it managed to take over 20mins to add it to the booking, AND lose our free Disney Dining Plan!!!! Thankfully Frequent Club have since sorted out that issue!

But yeah, we are going in September, so I'm pretty hopeful that they will have it ready by then! :rotfl:

We have tickets for it - our trip is August. Sounds like it wil be open by then. The 'play' area for the children sounds good...hope it is!

I'm looking forward to the all you can eat/drink. That should keep everyone happy, and since I'm taking the laptop, the free internet access is also a huge bonus. There is nothing more boring than sitting around for 3-hours, so at least the internet will keep us entertained! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the reply's, but now we are begining to panic as you can see from our ticker we go on the 17th of may and have already paid for the v-room,however when we checked on the manage your booking section of the virgin holidays website the part saying 3 adults @ £15 for the v room is missing BUT it was on our last paper invoice from virgin.
Added to this we have paid our final payment which included the extra £45 for the v room.so i think another phone call to virgin tomorrow!!!

If its not open, I would expect to be given access to the Clubhouse. It'll be busy mind!

Same thing has happened to me.

I booked and paid for it for our trip in May. All confirmed but when I checked my online booking a week or two back it had gone from the booking and I was left in credit by £30.

I've not heard anything from Virgin about this so if you do get told anything I'd like to hear.

I would have thought they should be switching the booking to whatever other clubhouse they have at Gatwick, but it's looking like they are simply cancelling.

Hello folks
Phoned virgin today regarding the v-room at gatwick and they have now told us that the v-room does not open untill june and that we will receive a letter that is already in the post stating this, also we will get a refund. hope this helps anybody out there going soon like us.we are disappointed but we will soon be at wdw:yay: :yay: :yay:

The V Room is only available to Virgin Holidays' customers. Frequent Virgins receive complimentary entry on first visit if booked before 1st April 2009 (for departures up until 30th April 2009). It's also free if you book a VH Platinum package. After that, Frequent Virgins receive a 10% discount off the usual entry fee of £15 per adult, £10 per child (2-11).

eeyoreangel1, have you considered booking the Clubhouse Lounge? It's more expensive at £35 a head, but well worth it.

Romour has it that the Virgin clubhouse will stop being offered to virgin holiday customers (apart from those flying upperclass or flyingclub gold) as soon as the new lounge opens.

This is a shame as the V lounge does not include alochol or a salon :-(

Mine was cancelled weeks ago so I would have thought a letter would have been sent to me then.Do you think they've only told you what they did because you phoned them?

I'll give it a couple of days but I'd be very grateful if you get a letter if you could mention it back here so that I can chase them if I don't get one.

Presumably all that they are doing is refunding---no mention of the clubhouse?

We tried to book the Clubhouse today for our November trip. We were advised that Virgin Holidays' allocation was fully-booked. Reading between the lines, I'm guessing VH's allocation is actually nil for the reason you suggest.

They did offer the V Room as an alternative which we accepted. It'll be nice to check it out and, being new, it'll possibly be better than the Clubhouse. It does have a bar, so at £20 per person less than the charge for the Clubhouse, the lack of free alcohol is neither here nor there. We rarely use the salon, so that's not really an issue for us either.

Oh, and we've booked flights only with Virgin Atlantic. The fact that we hadn't booked via VH was a complete non-issue.

Thanks for that Deb, I didn't realise you could book if you've booked via VA.

I've just got off the phone to VH and managed to book the Clubhouse for December 7th, they didn't even mention the V-Room. I thought they might try to put us in there.

Thanks again!

Sam

I hope that is the case, though as deb said doing the Math the difference in price will make up for the lack of free drinks, however Ive got images of the place being over run with screaming kids, will wait and see what people think of it before I book.

Hi Deb,
Where did you get that info from please-about the V Room being free for Frequent Virgins on first visit,i can't find it on there website? As we received the 10% off voucher but Virgin did'nt mention to me on the phone about it being free for the first time.I have'nt booked it yet.x.

Can someone explain these lounges to me. If you are booking flights only with VA can you still book into the lounge. Are they only for upperclass passengers or can anyone pay the extra for entry into the lounge.

Thanks :)
