I heard somewhere that you may be able to get the menu they are serving at the chefs table served in the dining room, especially if you cannot get ressies for the actual chefs table...

Anyone do this? I think it would be a nice way to try it all if I can't get the chefs table itself....

I've read reviews where people have done the chef's table menu in the main dining room.

I'm wondering if the DDE discount (which is good only in the main dining room) applies if you get the chef's table menu while sitting in the main room.

I think it would be a good thing to try - even if you can't get into the CT... I've worked in enough restaurants to know what they do - I just want to try the food!!!

If you do this, it must be arranged in advance. Normlly V&A has two seatings, the first is normally reservations for arrival between 5:30 and 6:15; the second normally for arrivals from 8:30 to 9:15. This is based on the assumption that most people will take between 2¼ and 2½ hours for dinner. This allows a short time leeway and then gives time for the table to be cleared and reset for the second seating.

The Chef's table normally figures 3½ to 4 hours, so in the main dining room they would have to block a table for both seatings to give the CT menu.

And I am not sure, but I have heard that DDE will not work with the CT menu in the main dining room; I know it will not work at CT itself.

Thanks much - hopefully in the future I will be able to try it sometime.

I did it in september. I was due to eat on thursday, as I was at the Grand floridian on the sunday before I asked them if I could do it, I was told I would be contacted and found a message in my room saying I could. It was definatly worth it!

That's good to know...

Was it the same price as the CT? If so, do you mind if I ask how much? & did the chef come to your table at all while you were there or was it just presented by the waitstaff?
