V&A question...dress code for children

I'm suprised they seated them dressed like that. Was it Mel Gibson (?--it was some famous actor) who was turned away from V&A's a few years back for not having a jacket (It might have been because he was in jeans--this is going back some, sorry my memory is foggy). At any rate he was seated in Citricos and served his meal from V&A's.

TIA :D
LOL! Are you trying to bait us? Good one!

I would get a Happy Meal for the kids and just let them wear their casual attire and sit in a quiet area of the kitchen, out of everyone's way.... and if your SIL has to nurse - she can do so discreetly.....

I will vote for leaving the toddlers with a babysitter.

But go ahead and bring the baby, Many cocktail dresses make breastfeeding quite simple. Just so you know, most states have laws to protect breastfeeding moms.

I hope your family has a good time.

It really hurt my feelings that you would think that. I have been around this site longer than most of you. I rarely start posts at all...much less controversial ones. I asked because I have never been to V&A. My children really wouldn't enjoy a dressy gourmet dinner (especially on vacation) so we don't go. :( A member of my family asked me what her children should wear. I thought I could ask here and get her an answer since I'm doing the majority of her trip planning. :(

I'm sure your feelings are really hurt Gepetto. Bored?

Gepetto, don't listen to all of the negative posts around here. I think the best advice would be to have your SIL call the restaurant to find out their policy on children and plate sharing for the younger ones. Good Luck!

Sheesh....someone asks a question and you gotta jump on them?

Oh wait...I forgot we are out of our pre-assigned fiorums again.

I would suggest pajamas ....and hire one of the wonderful babysitter services available at WDW.

;)

This was one of the most overrated dinners we have ever had the displeasure of wasting money on. When we were there the dress code was relaxed, apparently relaxed enough for one of the guests to use his cell phone to entertain us. I know it sounds harsh, but we thought the food was average but listed on the menu in such a way as to sound grand and exotic. The cheeses alone were very similar to what we get in a moderate restaurant. I think the childrens' palates may be too sophisticated for V&A's and that would be the reason to choose another restaurant. If the little ones are used to eating quality hand roasted mousse of peanut accompanied by hand hewn, brick oven baked pain blanc then this place is definitely not for them. I say, take the high road and go to California Grill. It's an improvement in every way. Threehearts

Just going to ask, that everyone here take a deep breathe, and remember that everyone is entitled to respect and kindness. I think that V & A maybe to much for such smal children, and could also not be appropriate for them there due to the atmosphere. You really may want to reconsider this, or get a sitter as suggested. I am just asking, that people respond to others as they would like people to respond to them ;) :)

Carry on now......

I have to agree with Threehearts on the food at V&As. You family will have a nicer dinner if they go to California Grill or Flying Fish. The food is much better and the children will be welcome!

I made the mistake of posting the question if I could take my 4month old DD to the Chefs Table . The response I received was unpleasant. After DH and I read thru the "thread" we decide not to do it. In retrospect I should have done it and NEVER posted the question. My DD slept thru every meal we had at WDW as I had figured she would, and I could have had one last nice dinner with my DH and parents. Since our past trip my parents have decided not to join us at WDW anymore.

I would love to take all 3 of my DD (1.6.9) to V&A but I think they rather have a 100$ each of toys then one meal, lol. If I ever do take them I would reserve the Chefs table since it is more private. However I don't think I would take the challenge of fine dinning with a 1,2,3 yo anywhere. At those ages even McDonalds is a challenge.

There are also many restaurants with fine dinning that are more kid friendly the V&A. Another option, what I was planning, in room baby sitting for the 2 &3yo and bring the baby to the chefs table if its really that important to go to V&A.

.

Gosh....it sounds almost as if you blame the posters on this board for missing out on the only chance to dine at V& A's with your parents.

I agree with a previous poster.....most of WDW Fine Dining establishments are overrated -and over priced. Every once in a while we'll hit the "jackpot" and get an outstanding meal....but I would not anguish over the fact that I'll never dine at V&A's-and I won't eat there cause it's too darn expensive,In my opinion.
