V&A for Vegetarians?

Not vegetarian, but my DH is lactose intolerant and they created a special menu just for him. We didn't do the chef's table, but we still had a WONDERFUL time and I just loved the personalized attention they gave my DH. They called him a week before our dinner and spoke with him directly about his likes and dislikes.

I'm surprising him for his birthday next year with dinner there. I cannot wait!!!

Did you just tell the CM when you were making reservations about your husband's lactose intolerance? Or is there somewhere special you needed to call to inform them, thereby them calling you a week prior to your dinner?

Sounds like your DH is going to have a very special birthday!

I have not done chef's table, but I have done vegetarian many times at V & A's. Tell the CM when you make your ressie, and then V & A's will call you to follow up. I usually get a call a week out to discuss likes and dislikes, then a call two days before to talk specifics.

You will love it there, it's fantastic!

I am not a vegetarian any more, but I was for 10 years, and ate at V+As during that time. I just told them when I made the reservation, it was not a problem at all. The food was excellent.

This is all great to hear! I'm thinking of doing this dinner for our 5 year anniversary next year. We missed out doing this on our honeymoon so this seems like a nice opportunity.

However, you will lose a lot of the value of CT as a vegetarian. Three of the items which are served at CT which are extra cost options in the regular dining room (caviar, foie gras, and Kobe beef) are included in the CT meal.

So you're saying we may end up with an excessively overpriced vegetarian dinner?

I doubt it. There are lots of things that are vegetarian that are super expensive--truffles, for example, or certain cheeses, that might be included in your vegetarian CT meal. Why don't you call them and see if they could provide you with a sample menu? My vegetarian meal was in the main dining room, and I felt that it was a good value for what I received.

Good to know!
I will have to do that. Perhaps the regular dining room would be the best option for us.
