V&A Chef's Table

Is there a DIS'er of the year award? I'd like to nominate Mister Disney :cool1:
Talk about setting a standard for restaurant reviews. I would have been happy with a description of how wonderful the food/evening was for you.......all these pictures are wonderful. Thank you so much for the time/energy you've put into sharing with us :worship: :worship:

WOW!! Looks and sounds absolutely amazing. I am now starving and nothing in my cupboard will suffice after reading this thread. Thanks for sharing. I am intrigued about the elusive 6th course! What'd they serve you? Buffalo wings?? :)

Oh, my GOSH!!!!! I'm sitting at my computer almost drooling from reading your reviews. Thank you so much for posting with such detail AND the pics. Dh and I have eaten at V&A once; after reading your review we will definitely be doing the Chef's Table....perhaps for an anniversary.

The elusive 6th course......

Let me set the stage.....

If people recall......I was lucky enough to secure a Chef's Table reservation just a week before my actual date. The date that was available was for Easter Sunday.....an Easter Sunday that will not be easily forgotten.

Well, being Easter Sunday, it seems some families that were dining in the dining room had their children with them. Young children that would not appreciate the fine things on the menu at Victoria & Alberts.

Do you know where this is going?

So several times through the early part of the evening we kept hear people calling out "child's cheese". Not being one to sit quietly....I asked, what "child's cheese" was.

Seems that for the young tikes they actually serve a souped up (ala V&A) version of Mac & Cheese!

So......I asked to try it.

Since they could not serve us the pecan crusted buffallo, they substituted Mac & Cheese for us! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

The pasta as everyone knows was even shaped like our most favorite Mouse.

Here is a picture of us, along with the INCREDIBLE Chef's at V&A.

Aimee the Sous Chef in charge that night is pictured in the black cap.

Second from the left is Anthony who is the "Sauce Chef". Man alive did he give me a new appreciatation for fine dining and the time and effort that goes into even the smallest portion of a beautifully designed and presented plate! BRAVO Anthony!

Just so people know. The restaurant is run by an "executive chef" who is kinda for lack of a better word the "president" of the kitchen. The "Sous Chefs" are the "president's" V.P.

my partner is in the white shirt with the shave head and I am in the black shirt in this picture.

I do have a question- I am curious as to what OTHER restaurants the CM (sous chef I believe?) recommended to you. Their opinions hold high esteem with me!
Thanks!
Aloha :flower:

I'll post that info AND some photos of one of the places we ended up getting into WITHOUT a PS this afternoon!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I AM SO A FOOD JUNKY!

LOL about the mac and cheese! Too cute! I am so glad you took pictures of the food and the chefs! I can't wait for your next review!

It appears they have redone a lot of the kitchen since the two times I have been to the Chef's Table.

The table itself used to be square with a capacity of four people but having flaps underneath so it could become a round for six or seven.

Also, both time we were at CT there were only five chefs, not eight.

I guess I'll find out in a couple of months what the differences are.

I am so drooling over that menu and those pictures!! I have often hinted to DH about V and A s but if it doesnt come in huge portions or isnt chinese he wont go there :sad2: Plus to get him to even think of packing a jacket on the trip to WDW :rotfl2:  I think Vand A s is right up my street I will commence DH conditioning ASAP. ;) Thanks for sharing!!!

Wow, now I get why a meal ressie at V & A is so coveted! I've always been curious as to whether or not it was worth all the hoopla and thanks to your fantastic pictorial and review, I'm sold. I never realized you got to sample so many gorgeous foods. What a treat. :cloud9:
We're going in May and I know my chances are limited but I'm going to keep hoping for that elusive cancellation.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for the reviews and the pictures.

My DH and I ate at V&A's in Jan 2003, but I wasn't smart enough at the time to request the Chef's Table. Now I know better!!!

And tonight, I had a lousy hot dog for dinner... :guilty:

This brings back memories!

The first time, I went for my 27th birthday, in the days of cramped
alcove / visit by two giant rodents. :earboy2:

Then, during Labor Day week, 2002, five of us went for a friend's birthday.
(Four women and the DH of one of us). I immediately noticed the expansion
and thought it was a wonderful improvement. We had a round table, as
V&A's was waiting for the long table to be shipped. :)

Three of us women of the five people at the table had wine pairings.
Needless to say, we were quite "happy" as the meal progressed.
In fact, we were so boisterous in the kitchen, it was surreal to be
escorted to the bathroom. Imagine four women, three of whom had
wine pairings, immediately heading through what we called "The Stepford
Diners". It was so eerily quiet (and dark) compared to the kitchen,
we barely could contain our giggles. (It didn't help that the Birthday Girl
made a joke about us being the "8:00 parade to the Unisex Bathroom". It's
more of an Adventurers Club reference, but when you're semi-smashed,
it's hilarious.)

The food was fabulous, and there were four desserts to share among us.
Two of us received the same dessert, though. So we had decided to
"take two spoonfuls and pass to the left". Worked really well, but I didn't
want to give over my chocolate souffle!

Anyway, your menu sounded amazing, and I was ROFL about that Mickeyroni
and Cheese "course". Heheheh.

There's one other thing I wanted to mention: After our party had checked in,
we witnessed a couple approach the maitre d', asking if the Chef's Table
was available. They were hoping we hadn't shown for our reservation!

Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication. My husband and I are fine dining junkies. It's not something that everyone understands!

When we were at V & A's last Dec., we witnessed a wonderful moment. A guest at another table overheard a man and his wife discussing his military service and being home on leave. The guest paid for the serviceman and his wife's meal! He left before the young couple knew what he had done. The maitre d' said he just wanted to thank him in a small way for serving our country. :goodvibes

Yes, DEFINITELY fine dining junkie here too.

With regards to the Serviceman and his wife, that is SUPER. I would probably have done something similar if I had the opportunity.

BRAVO to all our Military Service Personel
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

when you reserve the chef's table the CC# is only to guarantee right? there is no charge made to that card unless you don't show or cancel without proper notice, am I correct?
Tomorrow starts our 180 days out for our honeymoon.....wish us pixie dust that we can get the chef's table :wizard:

I know I"ve said this 2-3 times before, but Thanks again for the wonderful review we have truly appreciated your hard work

well someone beat us this morning to the chef' table :sad2: we still have 4 more tries though :goodvibes . Did have 1 question as to the # to call. We got 407-824-1089 off allearsnet.com, but it directed us to another #. We were sent to the central dining ressie center then back to V&A.
I guess the real question is there a more direct # to V&A?

Thanks alot in advance. wish us luck the rest of the week

just an additional side note for the chef table...there is a waiting list that you can have your name added to! i was bummed to find out that i had missed the opportunity to book the chef table for my anniversary, but was offered the opportunity to add my name to the wait list, just incase someone cancled. we don't go until august, but my name is the first one on the list for every day of the week we are there...keeping my fingers crossed! :goodvibes i did, however, have to leave name and phone number on the machine at v&a to get on the list. but received a return call within a half hour...
