could you give me a ball park figure as to per person cost for the chef's table? it has been several years since we have dined there and of course things do change. also, in the past we were free to walk around the kitche; is this still the case? thanks for the help! :earboy2:

I'm not Uncle R -- but I'll try to answer anyway! We just ate at the Chef's Table a couple of weeks ago. It was marvelous as always -- Scott and Aimee are wonderful! And, Israel is the best!

We didn't ask to walk around the kitchen -- the chefs seemed pretty busy. So, don't know if that's allowed or not. We could see a lot of what they were doing from our table.

I'm trying to think what we paid. I think it was $150 pp without wine pairings, with wine pairings adding another $55 pp. I know that with tip and tax and a couple of extra wines we wanted to try, it was over $500 for the two of us.

The last time we were at Chef's Table the cost was $125 per person without pairings.

The cost has since risen- the cost is now $130 without pairings.

We don't usually do wine, but they will split a pairing between 2 people and match the wines to the food.

HTH!!

They no longer allow the wandering throughout the kitchen.

Glad the other posters helped you out, as it's been a few years since I've done the Chefs table!!! Not suprised it's gone up in price, as the price has risen several times for the main dining room.
Shold add that with the main room price now at $100 a person, the chef's table may be a better value, since you get to try virtually everything on the menu--

UncleR,

Do you think the Chef's Table takes away or adds to the experience of V&A's? I am planning on surprising my DH next year for his b-day by taking him to dinner at V&A's (it will be our 2nd time). We loved the romantic feel of the main dining room and thought that the experience was truly top of the line. I want to keep the mood on his b-day romantic - would the main dining room be better suited to this? Thanks for your opinion!

Anne

Flower is correct. The Chef's Table currently is $130 per person and the wine pairings are an additional $60 per person. Sorry for my earlier error.

In my opinion, the main room is more romantic. At the Chef's table you are--after all--in the "kitchen". A little bit more busy back there. The pics taken and on the recent review of the Chef's table from cplofdisneynutz, shows really well what it looks like back there.
But this is my opinion. Let's see what others have to say!!

I agree that the dining room is more romantic...but having said that, if you have not done the chef's table, you should try it. We've done both and loved every minute.

It is busy back there and the one thing I enjoyed about the dining room was the music, usually soft harp music.

Very romantic.

I think the dining room is much more romantic. We like the Chef's Table because we want an evening of tasting lots of foods and wines. If we wanted to celebrate our anniversary in as really romantic way, I'd book the dining room.

I'm sure the Chef's Table is great. But if I'm going to V and A's, I'd prefer something a bit more.....private. And then it tends to be more romantic.

My husband and I just celebrated our anniversary dinner there on 11/5. We were in the main dining room, and I was telling my husband about the chef's table. My dh asked our server if we could see the kitchen and she took us on a tour. She showed us the kitchen, we met the chef, Scott, and also visited for a moment with the couple who were at the chef's table. This experience was so incredible from beginning to end. I'm sure they will give you a tour, but you are not walking around behind the counter where the chefs are cooking. You will love it~ :cheer2:
