V&A and Children

Planning a Family Trip (4 Families w/ Children Ranging from 9 months to 6 1/2 years old)...

Can we make PS for V&A if plan to take our kids? I have already been there and I don't recall children but this is WDW so can't image no kids.

Also, what is the max per table? We will be 12 individuals. Do we have to sit at different tables?

I'm not sure if WDW allows children or not in V&A, but after you read about the menu, and prices, and atmosphere - you may want to re-think bringing the kids. Here's the V&A information from Deb Wills' site: http://wdwig.com/menu/menu_va.htm

V&A is a quiet, romantic type of restaurant. I doubt if there will be other children there.

Could you maybe think about having a romantic evening with just the adults, and maybe leave the children in one of the WDW childcare facilities for a couple of hours? They would probably have much more fun there, than in V&A. And you might enjoy a couple hours of adult time!

I don't think the children wouldn't be allowed in, but it is definately not the atmosphere for children. There isn't a children's menu and there is a dress code. I personally wouldn't bring children into V&A's since it is really a VERY formal restaurant. If you're really looking for a nice restaurant to bring the entire family, I'd recommend Narcoossee's. It's also at the GF and is a MUCH more relaxed atmosphere. A dinner at V&A's will take approx 2 - 3 hours, WAY too long to expect little ones to sit. I have two childre 5 and 2 and I do take them to some of the nicer WDW restaurants, but V&A's is NEVER on my list.

If there isn't a kids menu, in room child care (they will take them out of the room to do stuff) would be a better deal! $85 seems a little high for a 6 year old.

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question. I believe I've read that kids have eaten there before.

LeeAnn, this is WDW and kids are welcome everywhere. However, if you have your heart set on V&A, please do not bring your kids. Instead, maybe you can plan on a romantic adults-only evening. I've been to V&A over a half-dozen times and it definitely is not for kids. Other people may have seen kids there, but I have not. Your kids may not feel comfortable at V&A - they'll also have to adhear to the dress code - jackets for the boys. The kids can go to one of the deluxe resort kids' clubs and have a ton of fun.

To answer your other question, V&A is very small and intimate. I'm guessing your 4 families with kids would take up half the restaurant. They could probably rearrange tables, but the largest table I've seen there was a table of four.

Finally, I don't know about you, but when my family gets together, we're rather loud. This place is quite. Think candlelight and a harpist. It may not be the best location for a big family dinner.

The kids clubs are not an option for the 9 month old. How old are the other kids? They have to be 4 & trained.

Thank you for your responses. Please help me find a restaurant just as great as V&A that would be good for kids. We wanted to treat the in-laws to a great dinner to thank them for the trip. That's why we were thinking V&A but we didn't fully think it through.

So what the best place for for dinner?

A set budget may help- lots of these folks on here have hit EVERY restaurant and knowing that may help them pick the right spot. Based on reviews I would say Yachtman's Steakhouse would be good, Narcoossee's, Le Cellier at Canada Epcot, or even the Brown Derby at MGM- I would say most of these would run you $25-50 per person just depending on if you order wine/desserts and they have children's menus running around $10. Any other suggestions?

Fancy Dinner Alternatives: Citricos is right next door to V&A and has fabulous food - market inspired french cuisine. Narcoosee's is right outside on the water and has great food and an awesome view - mostly seafood. Finally, the California Grill is wonderful - time your dinner with the MK fireworks and ask for a window table - pacific rim cuisine. All are kid friendly and any one would be a great thank you dinner.

I also agree with beachbunny in regard to Citricos. It is my 7 year old DD favorite restaurant. You can still do wine pairing and the food is great, and usually not too crowded. The children menu is one of the best in sit down restaurants in WDW.

If hearts are set on V&As they do have a private room off of the main room everyone would be able to sit and the doors could be closed. You may want to call V&As and see what they would be able to do for you , and if they may have a more plain menu for the kiddies. They chefs may have lots of fun preparing a 7 course meal for kids. I am not sure if it is possible, but you never know till you ask. When we went on the 18th we were quite unhappy as well as all the other tables around us that they did not stick a large party of VERY loud adults in the room. they did have 8 people together at 2 tables that they put together, so if you did decide to go just adults I am sure they could accomidate you.

Children are allowed at V&A, tho "kid sightings" are quite rare. If V&A is still on your "possible" list, just call them directly at 407-824-1089 (calling around dinner time is best). They'll be able to tell you exactly what they can do re the table size and childrens menu.

kids are allowed. How do I know, My oldest first went there when he was under two, suit and all. It all depends on if you trust the children to behave or not. With kids, just tell them to speed along the meal. It can be done in a shorter time if necessary.

With all due respect, why bother? For me the the whole experience is what I am going for and that includes a very leisurely paced meal. I just do not think V&A is something to rush thru and I would never bring my kids even if they were well behaved 100% of the time which they are not and I would venture to guess most kids are not always well behaved.

And I for one do not want to spend some 300.00 to dine with other peoples children, when I'm paying top dollar to a babysitter to stay with mine.

I seem to remember one of the CM's at V&A's told me that a few years ago a couple with their 7 year old son were at WDW on the package that included their restraunt. They ate there every night (!) and the very well behaved son chose his food from tat offered the adults!

Think about Narcoossee's. My brother, sister and I, treated my parents and all 22 people they brought to WDW to celebrate their 40th anniversary to a fantastic dinner there. The staff did a terrific job. My parent's didn't know we were picking up the bill for this "party". The people at the restaurant helped us plan by getting flowers for the table and for each of my parents and a special cake. When it came time for the bill, they handed my father a Groom Mickey and Bride Minnie postcard that we had personalized informing them of the "gift". It was a marvelous, memorable evening complete with fireworks!
