How does the UY work. For an example; I want to stay at BWV and my UY is June. If I want to vacation in January, when can I make the ressies? Do I have to wait until my UY date? Or can I make ressies as soon as I have the points to use? Can I book 11 months in advance if I don't have the points, but know they will be coming available in June for the following January? It's getting more confusing by the minute and I don't even have the resale yet!

UY (for the most part) only matters when it comes to the dates by which you may bank points.

As for making reservations, they look at the date of the reservation to determine the number of points available. So, even if you are booking prior to the commencement of a use year, if the trip will be during that use year, you may book using all of those points (as well as borrowing points from the subsequent use year, if need be).

Good Luck

Use year has nothing to do with when you can make reservations. Points are used based on the date of the stay. So if you have a June use year, the 2004 points would be good for stays between 6/01/04 and 5/31/05. You could have made a reservation for January 2005 in February 2004 at your home resort using those points as current year points. You could also have borrowed 2005 points or used banked 2003 points. Everything is based on date of stay.

Use year has nothing to do with WHEN you can call to make a reservation. That is always 11 months ahead of your check out date for a home resort reservation and 7 months ahead of your check out for a non-home resort reservation.

You do not have to have points in your account when you call. They have to be there when you arrive.

Using your June use year example with a 200 point contract:

On June 1, 2004, you get 200 points into your account. You may use those points for a stay that occurs between 6/1/2004 and 5/31/2005. If you don't use them or bank them by the deadlines, the points expire on 5/31/2005.

On June 1, 2005, you get 200 more points into your account. You may use those points for a stay that occurs between 6/1/2005 and 5/31/2006. If you don't use them or bank them by the deadlines, the points expire on 5/31/2006.

On June 1, 2006, you get 200 more points into your account. You may use those points for a stay that occurs between 6/1/2006 and 5/31/2007. If you don't use them or bank them by the deadlines, the points expire on 5/31/2007.

Etc.

HTH.

Best wishes -

The main thing to be concerned about Use Year (to me anyway) is just in case you have to cancel a trip.

Let's say you have a June use year and normally wish to vacation in January. You would need to cancel (and bank your points) by Nov 30th - if you won't be able to make the trip before your points expire on May 31. If you cancel between 1 Dec and 30 days prior to arrival (points go into a holding acct. then - another subject) you will only be able to bank 50% of your unused points into the next year. You will still have your other points, they just need to be used before June - when you get your next years points.

June use year banking deadlines are:
100% - Nov 30
50% - last day of Feb (28 or 29th)
25% - March 31
