Hi.

I have September UY and 420 points, per UY. I want to be safe and say 50% borrowing will still be in affect next few years.

2022: 210 points remaining.
If I book a trip:
October 2022, I can use all of September 2022 - 210 points and borrow up to 210 from 2023.
Is above correct?

2023: 420 Points in September UY
If I book a trip:
January/February 2023, I can borrow up to 210 from 2023 (whatever is left from the 210 if I use in October 2022).

September/October/November 2023, I can use the remaining 210 from September 2023 UY and borrow up to 210 from 2024.

Does above make sense and am I understanding this finally, or possibly I'm even more confused.

I am asking since I do want to take the above trips mentioned and want to make sure I leave myself with enough points to book for each trip. The only places I care about where I stay is this October, but that will take work and stalking.

Thank you.

The easiest way for me to figure these things out is to list the UY of a trip and go from there.

Oct 2022 trip in your September 2022 UY…you use banked 2021, 2022 and up to 50%..210 to complete the trip.

Jan/Feb 2023 trip is also in your 2022 UY, so you can use the same points as above. If you book the October 2022 trip, and you end up borrowing foe it, then this trip is limited to whatever is left of your 2023 UY points to borrow within the 50% limit

And the last trip is in your 2023 UY so yes, you would have whatever 2023 points are left plus up to 50% of the 2024 UY points to complete the reservation.

THANK YOU, I was hoping you would come and help me AGAIN!!!

Just to clarify since I can get larger accommodations if I'm correct for October, when you say
for October 2022 trip in my September 2022 UY...I can use my 210- 2022 left over points and borrow 50% of 2023.

For January/February 2023, I would have 210 left to use minus whatever I used for October 2022?

Am I correct?

Your October 2022 scenario is a yes. The second not so much. If you book an October 2022 with the 210 points left in 2022 UY and borrow 210 from the 2023 UY, you have no points available for a January/February 2023 booking under the current 50% rule. Your 2022 UY goes to the end of August 2023. If borrowed the 210, the October-November 2023 booking will be the same scenario at the October 2022. 210 points left in 2023 UY and can borrow up to 210 from the 2024 UY. Just be aware once the borrowing is done, a cancellation locks those point in the UY moved into and don’t go back.

That is correct!

To attempt to make it more mentally clear:
If you have a contract with 420 in each UY but this 2022 UY you have just 210 (from the UY itself and from any points that were banked from the 2021 UY). For September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2023, you have up to 420 points available to use in whatever reservations you make. (The 210 plus the 210 (50%) by borrowing).

For October 2022, I will not need to borrow too much from September 2023, then I can have what is left of the
remaining September 2023 210 points to book for January/February 2023. For September 2023, I can use the September 2023 210 points and borrow up to 210 from 2024, which I believe Sandisw said is correct.

Let’s say you book October 2022 with all the points plus you borrow 100 from 2023. For January 2023 or anything up to August 31, 2023 you would still have 110 available to borrow. Think you got this under control now. Have fun!
