So, off and on for the past several days I have tried to search DIS posts for some answers to my questions and I can NEVER get through!! :furious: I'm at the beginning stages of planning at 2007 trip to WDW and I want to try and find some information. The questions I have, I KNOW have been asked before and there is no need for me to repeat the question. I would bet a ton of money that someone on the DIS has asked "Where are the best rooms at Pop Century?" I have never planned a trip to Pop Century before, so I have never really paid any attention to the discussion on Pop Century. But now that I want to search for that information - I can't. Uugghh. No point in asking the question again, when it has probably been discussed to death. Does the search function EVER work??? Every time I get the message that the server is busy. If it won't work, why is it even there. :furious:

Thanks for letting me vent.

Hmmm. I just searched for something 5 minutes ago on the CB and had no problem.

What are you searching for? Maybe I can do it for you and link the results to you.

For kicks - I tried doing a search again, still didn't work. Here is the message I always get. "503 Service Unavailable
The server is temporarily busy, try again later!"

Thanks for your offer to search for me. That is really nice of you. Right now I just want to read some discussions on the different buildings at Pop Century and what is a good room/building to request when making Pop Century reservations. Just stuff like the 60's building was loud because it is close to Classic Hall or 50's is good because it is away from the hustle and bustle. Just stuff like that, so I can figure out what to ask for when making our reservations. I have always done well with my room requests at CR, AKL and POFQ and just want to get a feel of what it is like at Pop Century.

Also,I would like to know why you can search and I can't. I find it weird.

FYI- I am getting ready to leave for work so I won't be able to respond to my post for awhile.

I tried a search on the Resorts Board "best rooms at POP," and I got the same error you did. I wonder if it's something specific to that board. I did notice a thread on the first page that was talking about preferred rooms at POP in the 70's building.

Sorry I couldn't help.

Thanks for trying, though. For me I get that message no matter what board I am trying to search. Oh well, I'll find the info I need another way. Thanks again.

I'm having the same problem.. I'm reading a book and I tried to search to see if anyone here had read it, but it's giving me that error.

BTW, I recomend the 50s at the Pop Century. The bowling pin pool was less crowded than the main pool, but the computer pool was dead a lot. It was close to the main thing, but not right next to it so it wasn't loud. It's a quick walk to the bus stops. I've also stayed in the 80s and it was okay, but a long walk to the bus stops and main building. The pool wasn't as busyt though. :hippie: The 70s Hippie Dippie pool was packed a lot.

Check out the discussion on the Technical Support Board. Alex has been looking into this for weeks. He hasn't found a resolution yet.

If you do a search in the box that pops up under "Search Forums," when you click on "Search" it won't work.

HOWEVER, if you click on "advanced search" and do a search through that screen, it will work.

That's been my experience anyway. Good luck.

I have had luck doing my search through firefox when it wouldn't work with IE as well.

I actually do a lot of my searching via Google using the site:disboards.com to limit the results to just DIS messages.

Just be patient and wait a min or so, it did take a while for the search results to come up as shown on my machine. This board is indeed very pop ular !

I have also had problems with using search so I just started using Google for it instead.

Thanks for all the replies - at least I know that I am not alone and that Alex is aware of the problem.

BrerLizzie - Thanks for the suggestion about the 50's building at Pop! That is what I wanted to search for. But I still would like to be able to do other searches

JamieW - I get that same message regardless of where I do my search. If I do it on the actually post page or on the advanced search page, I still can't get through. I have tried many times. Thanks for the idea though.

tchan03 - I wait as long as it takes, until I get the message. It takes several minutes (up to 5 - I timed it once) to get the message that the server is busy. I will see the progress bar, slowly get higher and higher and then I get the message.

azgal81 - Also, I get the same message whether I use IE or firefox, I have already tried that. I did that a couple of days ago and at first I got really excited that I had thought of the idea and maybe this would work, but I still got the server is busy message. Tried several times too. Again, thanks for the suggestion though.

THANKS for all the suggestions about Google. That is the one thing I have NOT tried and will be doing that from now on. I am also going to go over to the Technical Board and find the discussion about this problem. I hope this issue can be figured out, as you can tell, I am very frustrated about it.

Where in Google is that limiting restriction entered, bicker?

If you go to advanced search in google and put disboards.com in the domain name and select only. That way it will search disboards.com only for what you want instead of the whole internet.

ETA: you can also search like this 'early entry site:disboards.com' and that will save you the going to the advanced search site.

Thanks for the links that was really nice. Exactly the kind of stuff I wanted to read. Nice to read a lot of different opinions about the POP because it sounds like there are some pros and cons for each building at POP. It's not like there is this one terrible building and try to avoid it, but instead each one has it's advantages and disadvantages.

Now- if I could just do a search myself. Later, I am going to try searching with google.
