I'm curious as to what everyone pays for their utilities, an average or range is fine if you don't want to disclose it. Just trying to get a figure. Please give the size of your house, average usage amounts and what state and city you are from.

Water Bill?
Electricity?
Gas?
Garbage?

Water Bill? about $450/year
Electricity? about $200/month
Gas? about $100/month...(for pool heater)
Garbage? $50/month
Oil ...over $400/month, last year it was around $300 and I thought that was bad!

$50 for garbage collection :faint: I never imagined it would be THAT high.

They come once a week, 2X in the summer.
Plus we buy a landfill sticker for the big stuff, leaves, brush etc, which is $90 a year.

Arkansas:
Water and garbage (plus separate meter for sprinkler system) about $50 a month. I don't water much so it's about the same year round.
Electricity - $70 in winter, maybe as high as $200 in the summer.
Gas - $250 last month (Dec.) but my dad keeps the thermostat on 80-84.
2900 square feet - built in 1965, not particularly efficient.

Northern California:
Water and garbage in homeowner's association
No gas
Electricity - $45 - $125 a month. No a/c. Electric heat in the ceiling (very inefficient).
1400 square feet

our house is between 1500 and 1600 sq ft.
elect: under the old rate: $95 in the low months and $175 in the high months.
our new rate is almost twice as much per kwh, haven't seen a bill yet.
water/sewage/garbage: about $85 a month.
phone/internet: $90

what i wonder, now that power bills have been adjusted because of oil prices, if oil went down, or we went on more nuclear or other sources, will it go down?

No. California/SF Bay Area - 2600 sq ft townhouse
Garbage & Water in HOA
Electric $90-$150
no Gas

So. California/LA - 1000 sq ft apartment
Water included in rent
Garbage, Sewer & Street Cleaning $35
Gas $18
Electric $80-$175

Long Island NY

Water Bill? 40.00 every three months except fo rthe summer, then its 90 for those three months since we have the sprinklers on every day for 2 hours.

Electricity? 170.00 a month

Gas? 13.00 month (only used for cooking and clothes dryer)

Garbage? this is included in your taxes..it comes to about 560.00 a year-there are 4 pick ups a week-2 for garbage and large trash items like couches etc, one or papers and cans and then one for yard waste. For appliances you put them out and call then they come and get htem with a special truck.

Oil 175.00 a month

Water Bill? About $130 per quarter

Electricity? About $100 per month

Gas? Just got a gas stove- no bill yet!

Garbage? This service is free here

3 Bedroom home- 1 1/4 bath- oil heat- no central air or anything like that.
Central Maine location

Maryland

Water $60 every 3 months
Electricity $150 a month
Gas none
Garbage Not sure, we have monthly HOA and it may be a part of that or
is a part of our taxes

One thing you will notice quickly is how much utilities vary from place to place.

We have a home that is a little over 3000 sq ft in MN

electric $65/month, $70 in the summer with the central air on
water $45/month
gas $150/month, now, about $70/month last year with normal gas prices, this is in the winter, summer months our gas bill is about $5.
garbage $45/quarterly, so $15/month

Norman Oklahoma, 1800 sq ft, 3 bedroom house built in 1998
2 Adults 2 Teenagers

Water Bill? Garbage? $30 per month (combined bill)
Electricity? $115 per month*
Gas? $21 per month (actually went down this year)*

* Budget plan - pay same amount every month regardless of usage.

Having seen other's post there monthly ulitities I have to say that we have it pretty darn good here in OK. Also want to add that we put in a programmable theromsat last year and I think that is why our gas bill went down from $66 per month to $21.

I know you have posted you are moving to Tampa. If you live within the city limits of Tampa, your garbage and water is billed together. We have three people in our family, our water/garbage bill averages $45/month. Other Tampa prices:

Electricity for 1045 sq ft home - average $120/month
Gas - $0 - heat and air is usually electric in Florida

North Tampa

2550 sq ft with a family of 4

We are all electric..$150 a month, higher during the summer..it reached $225
water/sewer $40-50 a month, more during the summer, gotta water the lawn
garbage $14/quarterly
phone (unlimited long distance)/dig. cable/internet (cable modem) package - $150 a month

2900 sq ft in Orlando.

Water, Garbage, Electric averages 400 per month for everything throughout the year. Obviously the bills are lower now due to decreased need for electricity to cool the house, rarely a need to heat and very little watering. In the late spring the bills begin to go way up. FWIW, we keep the AC on 76 during the day and 73 at night when cooling is necessary. We hardly ever use the heat and we set it to 67 at night in case temps really dip. We water the lawn twice a week.

1200 sq ft not including basement. North Providence RI

Water: $140 annually
Sewer : $20 quarterly plus $125 usage fee annually
Electricity: $119 monthly (budget plan)
Gas: Anywhere from $25 -$250/month depending on weather
Garbage - free

Water Bill? We rent, don't have a bill.
Electricity? About $90 every other month.
Gas? We have radiators, so we don't use gas. Don't have to pay for heat.
Garbage? Already paid for all of the apartments.

The only other monthly payment DH considers a utility is for cable internet. For that and our cable tv it's about $90 a month.

2500 sq ft

Water Bill? $0
Electricity? last one...so the coldest winter months was $450 for 2 months
Gas? $0
Garbage? $20 every 4 months (we haul to the dump ourselves)

Water Bill? Nothing. We have well
Electricity? About $350 a month year round
Gas? none
Garbage? None. Must be included in our taxes.
House 3500 sq ft

In CT:

We have a well and septic system, so no water or sewer bills, but if the we have well or septic system problems, we would have to pay for repairs/replacement out of our pocket (could cost several thousand dollars all of the sudden -- ouch!).

Electriciy runs $100 (low use) to $175 (high use) per month.

Oil is costing $1680 for about a year's worth of oil (700 gals) to heat our water and house.

Garbage is done by independent refuse companies here and costs $31 per month.
