Usual Procedure for Buying Direct?

Simple question, so simple I think it sounds kinda dumb, but…

I should get to see a contract before they take any of my money, right? This would be direct from DVC. My guide and I have set up a time to collect payment over the phone, but when I asked about when I could see the contract, the answer about timing on that was a bit hazy.

To be clear, I haven’t paid anything yet. Just wondering if I should hold my ground on seeing the contract first. (Again…I type it out loud and it sounds pretty dumb…the answer is OF COURSE I should. Right?)

I think they take the deposit before generating the paperwork (which is customized to your specific purchase). But you have 10 days to rescind from the date of the last signature if there is anything in there you do not like, and you will get your deposit back. And you don't sign until you get copies of the things to sign!

You can get copies of the current Riviera Public Offering Statement, the Multi-Site Offering Statement, and the Home Resort Rules and Regulations to review if you like.

(Note that this is almost certainly to help reduce people balking---they do not want to give you time to have buyer's remorse to set in.)

Don't know for new buyers, but for current members they can be extremely flexible about the deposit. And I mean extremely.

In 2023 I reached to them about Riviera because they had great incentives. They confirmed me the details, but I was planning to wait until the end of the incentive cycle to make the transaction. The guide asked me why I was waiting and I told him I was waiting for some funds (I made that up to wait). He asked me if I'd go ahead with the purchase if he delayed the deposit by 45 days. I told him yes, he came back like 5 minutes later and told me it was approved. I had the points in my account like 60 minutes later. The only requirement was for me to provide them my credit card details so they could process the payments automatically.

**I don't remember if I had to make a small payment that day. I think I had to do like $500.

This practice of giving you quick points for a (can be small) upfront payment can also work in your favor. It can allow you to lock in a deal before a promotion ends to also see what is on the other side of the promo period and pick which works for you. At the end they want your cash and signatures on the paper but they are fairly cool with the process. They also want you getting that hit of seeing those points on the booking engine. It's a great feeling to see that number go up and they want you to to buy even more.....
