Using your own cup at drink stations?

I thought you were't supposed to use your own refillable cups/mugs at the drink stations, but in my Dreams Unlimited Travel gift pack I received there were cups included with a letter of encouragement to use them at the drink stations. What gives?

You definitely can use them around the ship. When you fill them up, you should fill the small paper cups available at the drink station from the fountain and then pour it into your cup. The goal here is to never let your cup, which has/will touched your mouth, get anywhere near the drink nozzles. The nozzles and your cup can pass germs back and forth, so use the paper as a go between. We always bring our Tervis cups, the paper ones are tiny.

Technically you are supposed to use one of the Disney cups to FILL your own cup but I've never seen anyone do that.

You can "use" them at the drink station, you are just asked to use one of the already provided paper cups to fill yours. Not fill yours directly.

Just use the paper cups at the station then pour that paper cup into your reusable cup.

Yes. I could use some pictures of the different menus in Cabanas (for dinner). As well as a really good picture showing the connections on the back of the TVs (mine always come out blurry)

I do not understand why DCL uses paper/styrofoam cups at all on the pool decks. The Cabanas drink cups are plastic anyway, including the mugs, why not just keep a supply of them outside. I don't see the paper cups as being any more hygienic, if you avoid the dispensing nozzle, which everyone should anyway, because come on.

I use my own cup/bottle to avoid one-time use cups. So it seems silly (but hygienic!) to fill mine by first filling a paper cup. I think I'll grab a plastic cup from Cabana's to use to fill mine. I like the idea to have plastic cups on the pool deck as well, might have to leave that suggestion after our next cruise.

It makes me laugh that they got rid of plastic straws but encourage people to use paper cups to fill their reusable cups. Yes, I realize they're different materials, but still.
