using WDW tickets at DLR

I've read on Mousesavers that you can use remaining (unexpired) days on a WDW ticket to be admitted to DisneyLand, by presenting it to a cast member at the ticket window, and having each day converted to a DLR one-day ticket. Has anyone got firsthand experience with this? Done it recently? I've got a 10-day non-expiring ticket I'd like to make use of when we visit Anaheim next month.

TIA!;)

All I have is memory of people posting the question and experiences with it here. Has to be done every day at the turnstiles.

Since you have a ticket worth quite a bit more than even an AP for Disneyland, I personally would not use it in that way, unless you're really in a bind financially. I'd just buy DLR tickets and put that WDW ticket away for safekeeping!

I paid more per day at DL then I pay for my 10 day non expiring ticket to WDW (we bought our tickets through getaway today) so I think it would be a good option. We paid $169 for a 3 day which is $56 a day. I have never had any average out to more then $50 a day at WDW and that is just more recent with all the fees going up for the zillionth time and not figuring in the cost for a water park even though we add it in.

Just wanted to throw that out there.

I was looking at the total cost, not average, for the same number of days. The 10 day no expire, per allears, is over 400 bucks. Since the OP didn't say how many days she was going to be at DLR, just that she had a 10 day ticket to use, I figured maybe she was talking about using it all. Since even a Premium AP would be 379, I figure that might be a better deal, LOL. Unless of course there are no plans for WDW for a long time, and no wish to save those for WDW! :)

Oh, I'll definitely be saving my extra days for WDW!:thumbsup2
We'll be in Anaheim for 2 days. I made this "investment" in non-expiring tix a year ago, right before a price increase, & paid $410, so $41 per day (w/hopper). Might as well use them, if I can.

So, are we sure DisneyLand still allows this? I'd hate to get to the gate and be stuck paying full price on the spot. I sort of pride myself on never paying full price for anything....

We are doing the exact same thing next month also...we have 8 days left on a 10 day ticket so we are going to use 2 at DL and save the rest for our next WDW trip. I have asked this question here before and have been told that I just have to go each day to the ticket booth and 1 day will be converted to a DL ticket. They can't change multiple days at a time so you have to do it each day so arrive early to allow time to do this. We specifically bought 10 day tickets last year knowing we would be doing this DL trip and we are glad we did because that's one less expense for this upcoming trip.

OK, that makes more sense. :)

Funny how minds work. I just automatically assumed they would only use a few days, I shouldn't assume though, usually I am wrong!

I ended up buying tickets vs using ours because I was going to have to buy new 10 day ones for me and DH but my mom, her DH and Dallas would have had theirs, so we all decided to just get them from getaway and get the extra magic morning. I also don't like paying gate price for anything!

This is great to know. For example:

I plan on going to DL 10/3/08 - 10/4/08. I have a WDW 10 day ticket (expiring) that I haven't used yet.

I have plans to be at WDW 10/13 - 10/19. I was originally going to upgrade this ticket to an AP.

So I can use 2 days of this 10 day ticket at DL, go to WDW before the 14 days are up and will be charged the difference to the WDW AP when I arrive?

thanks for the replies, everyone! Sounds like I'm good to go!:cool1:
As for the upgrade question: I'm guessing you could do that, based on this info from Mousesavers:

"Upgrading Tickets

You can apply the value of an unused ticket, or even a partially-used one with days left on it, toward the purchase of a higher-priced ticket. I strongly recommend doing this at a theme park Guest Services window, NOT at the Downtown Disney Guest Services office, which seems to have issues with doing upgrades properly!

If you haven't used the ticket at all, they'll apply the price printed on the ticket to any higher-priced ticket.

If you have used one or more days of the ticket, they'll apply the current gate price (which may be more than you paid) to any higher-priced ticket. For this reason, if you've purchased a discounted ticket it is best to use at least one day of your ticket before upgrading!

You must upgrade partially used tickets within 14 days of first use, even if you have the No Expiration option.

Tickets cannot be upgraded beyond 10 days total (i.e. if you purchase a 7-day ticket and want to add 3 days, that's fine, but you can't add 4 days). Once a ticket has been maxed out at 10 days of admission, the only upgrade possible is to an Annual Pass.

If upgrading partially used tickets with the Water Park Fun & More feature to an Annual Pass, you must purchase a Premium Annual Pass (which includes the water parks). "

But I don't know if there is some nuance or rule I'm missing....FWIW.
