Using up CS credits

Sorry if this answer has been posted...I did a search but I didn't find much. There will be four of us travelling, 2 adults and 2 children. At the end of our trip we will have 4 adult CS credits left over. Will I be able to order 4 adult CS meals for us (as that is what I have remaining) even though it says 2A 2C on my card? Planning on using them at a location where my kids will not want to eat the children's menu stuff and would prefer and adult meal. Not trying to cheat the system...I will have 4 adult CS meal credits left and want to purchase adult meals with them as to maximize my cost.

TIA

While I am certainly no expert, I'll give it a go...

I am sure you will have no problem ordering the 4 adult CS meals, as long as you don't try to order them at the same time. That is unless you and the other adult ordered and used your own respective cards. Otherwise you would probably need to order at 2 different places. That is unless you wish to get all 4 meals at the same place, then I think it would be easier and less worrisome if you both ordered 2 meals.

It probably seems as if I were rambling, sorry. I hope I made sense.
:)

It's unfortunate, but even though that's all you'll have left (presumably because you used child credits at an early meal and not used adult credits), and therefore, by rights you should be able to order all adult meals, past abuse by unscrupulous guests has prompted Disney to employ enforcement that precludes ordering as you should be allowed to.

I'm going to be in the same situation. So let me see if I understand correctly. I will not be able to use adult CS credits for my kids, even though adult dining package is more expensive than the kids. I had planned to use them at Pizzafari in AK because (if I'm understanding the children's menu correctly) they do not offer pizza as a choice for kids:confused3 , but a personal size pizza can be ordered from the a la carte menu. I was hoping to just be able to use an adult CS credit to get them a pizza. If not, we will just pay out of pocket. Any help with this would be great! Have a great day!

The general rule is very clear:

So generally, if you all eat together, every meal, you should order adult meals for those registered in your hotel reservation as being over age 10, and should order child meals for those registered in your hotel reservation as being 3 - 9 years old. At Pizzafari, unfortunately, pizza isn't on the child menu. I recommend Pizza Planet for pizza with children.

Of course, you can order the adult meals for yourself, and then let them eat your meal (while you eat theirs?)

The OP's case is different. I'm guessing that the OP is planning on going out for a special TS meal for just the adults, and therefore feeding the child (only) at a CS eatery for that meal, beforehand.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess we will just feed the kids first and we will eat later, or go somewhere without a kids menu.

Have you visited WDW using the DDP before?

The reason I ask is that I would find it difficult to "plan" how many CS meals I'd have left at any given time. On our trip last year, we ordered anywhere from 1-4 CS meals at a time for the 4 of us (2a/2c). We'd share at breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack time, etc. The only time we didn't just share meals were at TS locations where we each just ordered our own meal for simplicity sake (though in 2 cases there would have been plenty of food to share between us).

I'd say go with an open mind regarding CS meals and just let your appetite lead you. If you want 1 CS meal to share, get it. If you want 2, order them. If you want breakfast, share a platter. If you are hungry at 3 pm, share a CS meal. When you run out....pay cash for your remaining meals. You probably won't need to. Order kid's meals for your kids when kid's menus are available. The most generous servings and most "kid" friendly menus seem to be at the resorts and often at breakfast so consider using them there (sharing) and then share your adult meals later in the day with the kids.

I wouldn't really go searching all over for a place without a kid's menu unless you happen to be in the area of one. I think that you'll be wasting time doing that. By the end of your trip, you'll be a DDP expert anyway. I'm sure you'll be able to work out your remaining credits so everyone is well fed and happy. Have fun!

ITA with this advice. We were there in August for the free dining. We did start out paying for breakfast so we could use our CS for lunch. It was way too much for us. I think that the heat had something to do with it, but we were sharing at lunchtime a lot or having a snack for our lunch. We had 8 or 10 left at the end of our stay, so I would not worry about it now.

You will have better luck with left over CS at any resort with a food bar. You will generally be able to get sandwich, chips, drink, and dessert with any CS left over.

I though the OP was asking the opposite. A child using an adult credit.

We were just there and on all our CS receipts they did not seperate the child CS credits from the adult CS credits. They only did that for TS credits. We did always use the credits the way we are suppose to and we were left with 2 CS credits left. I think your best bet is to just use your adult credits for an adult meal and let your kids eat that. No one is going to snatch the food from your kids because they are kids eating an adult CS meal! Most of the time when I ordered the CS meal I was by myself ordering for 4 people. No one even looked at what was on the card. BTW, the card just stated DDP, on it, not how many people were in my party. I also agree with the person who said there is no way to know ahead of time how many CS credits you will use. We tried to but were still left with 2 and really just waisted 2, see my DDP reviews for more info on that. You could also just go to a CS place that doesn't have any kids meals, like Pizza Planet at MGM.

There is nothing wrong with using your adult CS credits to buy an adult CS meal and then letting your kids eat it!!

Yup, the OP and the tink's girls where indeed asking oppositional questions.

Agree! In theory (i.e., according to the DDP brochure), there are adult CS credits and child CS credits; in practice, there are just CS credits (Disney doesn't keep track of adult and child CS credits used and remaining). In practice, if you have 2A and 2C on the dining plan, you should not be able to order more than 2 adult and/or 2 child CS meals per ring-up at the cashier. Thus, you can easily see how an unscrupulous person with 2A and 2C on the plan could get more than 2 adult meals at one sitting regardless of how many "adult" credits they had left; they'd simply go through the line more than once. I am not advocating that practice, and in any event, someone in the OP's position would certainly not be unscrupulous to do so (IMHO) as long as he/she has kept good faith track of the # of adult credits left and would not be trying to get more adult CS meals than he/she was entitled to under the plan.

Yes, bicker is right. Two times we will be having a "date night" and my MIL who is also on the plan will be taking the kiddos to eat CS for dinner. Therefore, we will have 4 CS left over. We will be at our resort the last day anyways, so maybe we will split 2 meals for breakfast and then 2 meals for lunch since everyone says that the meals are big....problem solved!

Yes, you are right, that's what I was asking. I wasn't trying to get an adult meal using a child's credit, I was trying to use a more expensive adult credit for a child!

And this is really one of those examples of "services Disney has changed due to abuse" that adversely affect guests. (There's a thread out there with a list of dozens of such cases.) Last year, before they changed enforcement, you could do that. The problem is that too many guests were abusing the loophole in the opposite direction, so now everyone has to suffer. :(
