Using Touring Plans to fax room requests - Anyone have success yet?

Interesting that they seem to encourage requesting exact room numbers as everything else I've ever seen about faxing requests says not to put in an exact room number as the odds of that exact room being available are very slim and the assigner has no way of knowing WHY that specific room was requested (location, view, etc.) and so just assigns whatever is available.

I was also under the impression that only POR and POFQ accepted faxes anymore.

I think the difference is somehow Touring Plans has a different fax source than the general public. I don't know this for a fact but it's a new service that they offer and they appear to work so my guess is they have a different "in".

As for exact rooms, their requests don't do that exactly. If you create one and read it you'll see their request is worded that you would like a room of the same type as X, and it goes on to give several samples of rooms that fit this category. So it doesn't request a specific room. I just populates the room type off the specifics of a room that you select. If that makes sense.

And their fax also includes the whys of what you want. For instance, South Facing, 1st floor, etc. I'll try to find a sample from our last stay

I initially thought the same thing.

But the request I have set up has "Bldg 3, Floor 3, E face, examples: 3312, 3313, 3314, 3315 (and so on)," Not just one specific room.

I would like to do this. I am staying at CBR and would like a Murphy bed, but I don't see anywhere to request this?? Is there anywhere to find out which rooms have a Murphy bed?

I thought all of them have Murphy Beds, except for the Pirate rooms

You can request exact rooms from touring plans. I just checked into Pop and I got the room beside the room I requested. :)
While you do click on the exact room if you look at the way it populates the fax it translates it to a room such as _____, ______, and ______ (giving several samples of rooms that meet that category(s). PP put a sample of what the fax Disney receives has on it.
Or did you go in and edit the fax to read a specific room?
I tried to change what was entered on the fax for our stay but the website changed it back. It worked out fine since I got the room type I wanted but I tried to make it more generic and the Touring Plans site wouldn't let me. Maybe it does let you get more specific?

I just clicked on the exact room I wanted. I deleted the other room numbers beside it. Then I got a reminder when I opened up touring plans a few days later, that they were going to fax a request for the exact room number I wanted. I also made a note that I would be happy with any ground floor room in that section if the room was unavailable.

Worked very well both times we used it. The rooms were within the desired section of the hotels, AKL and CBR. I think it is important to have a basic understanding of the layout of intended hotel to get best match. An example would be that at CBR Pirate rooms are only in certain sections. TP confirmed they had been successful at putting in the request but of course cannot assure the request will be filled. They , I feel, have it down to a science and it was one less thing we had to remember to do!

So glad I found this thread! I never knew this was an option. I did do early check in and put requests on there prior to finding out about this, so hopefully it works. We have booked a Jr King Suite at CSR, I just want to be sure I'm in Casitas and prefer an upper floor. Here's hoping!

You can add your own text to the touring plans fax - you could add your request for a murphy bed there.

I don't think there is a way to find out (unless someone is making a list). BUT I do know that the rooms with them will FIRST go to any families with 5 people because technically that Murphy bed is for the 5th person. Odds of them ALL being taken up with 5-person families is slim, but since the options are so limited, it's possible at high business times.

I am staying in Kidani, booked free dining through Disney, and TP is set up to send my fax. Do you think they are wrong?
Did your touring plans end up working for you? We have an upcoming trip in May at Kidani and are wondering if we should just do the Online check in since I keep hearing that DVC resorts don't accept the faxes. Thanks!

We got the exact room we requested at Boardwalk Villas. The EXACT room. I was shocked!

The first time we used the TP fax, we got the room next door to the one we requested. The next couple of times, we got completely different rooms though still good. I think it's basically a matter of luck.

I've used them twice to date and both times got the exact room i requested. So, going to continue to use them and press my luck!

I got back a couple of weeks ago and I got the EXACT room I requested with Touring Plans as well. Also, I arrived at 8 am and the room was ready! Win Win :cool1::tigger:
