Using toilets at WDW with your newly trained DD

I went in September with my dd3 who had been potty trained 8 weeks when we went. I worried a lot before we went. I would wipe the seat with toilet paper, she sat sideways holding my arm in front of her. I would take her off the potty and then wipe her. We both washed our hands and then used Purell. I got a little travel one that has a rubber hook. I hooked it on the outside of our backpack. I also carried two snack size ziplock bags, one for dry panties and one for wet panties (we had none until the airport on the way home). I was shocked.

This is our first trip with a potty trained little one. Babies R Us sells disposable Spongebob toilet seat covers that have sticky parts that stick to the seat. I did use the portable seat cover but just didn't want to carry it and it was icky! So now we use and toss. The post-its are a great idea as it freaks out my son everytime the toilet flushes!

Glad to learn about the Spong Bob disposable seat covers! Good handwashing is the best way to stop the spread of any infections. You have to scrub your hands for 30 seconds or more for this to be effective. I have my DS sing the ABC'S then rinse and turn the faucet off with a papertowel. You do not want to touch the dirty faucet with clean hands.

I admit I am a germ freak! I work in the health care field.

But really its a good habit to get into these days!!

This was our first trip to Disney with my dd trained. She was PETRIFED of public restrooms. I carry a small potty around in my SUV for her! So, it was going to be interesting. Well, she went on the potty on the PLANE. I brought potty seat for her, but she didn't want it. I brought toilet seat covers and she hated them. So, what I did was get a HUGE box of Purell wipes. I wiped down the seat before she sat down and then her butt when she got up. We also did our hands with a new purell wipe (of course!). We didn't have ONE accident and she went about three times a day no matter where we were...which is more than I can get her to go at home! I think she was curious to see what all the bathrooms looked like! She was a bit afraid of the self flushing toilets.

Our 2 yo dd is fully potty-trained at home. However, I wasn't sure how she would do with public restrooms and so many distractions last week at WDW. I took some pull-ups with us (didn't tell her) but, fortunately, didn't need them. She though the self-flushing toilets were neat and showed no fear. I'm so proud of her!!

Thank goodness for this thread. I was wondering how I was going to make it with my little potty trainer on our next trip.

We took DD when she was first potty trained and had no accidents. I'd say take them to a public restroom before you leave to get an idea of how it will go. We did use pull-ups for the trip just in case, but never actually needed them. Just remember to take them often since you'll be drinking lots in the parks.
