Using the walk-in closet as a nursery this trip!

Reading this thread, it occurs to me that we are all pathetic when we will use the laundry room for a bedroom instead of the pull out bed provided in the living room! This is especially true for us when we will only be having 5 people in a 2 bedroom, but I can't put my adult DD in the same room with DS and his SO, so it'll be the laundry room for her unless she agrees to stay up past 10 PM! That's one reason we don't use the living room for her. She turns into a pumpkin if she isn't in bed by 10, and nobody else wants to retire that early.

I'm just curious, has anyone done this at BCV? From what I remember the walk-in is kind of small. The p&p's fit in there?

:rotfl2: That's exactly what I started thinking when I started reading this thread LOL How can I convince DH to give up the master bed to me while he sleeps in his own "Room"....... :rotfl:

First off, when I read this I was rolling :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:
Probably b/c I was thinking the same thing.

I am heading back home in March to OKW for the first time at that resort and I was curious hearing about all of these adults or older kids sleeping in the laundary room. Are they separate rooms? Also, are these only in the GV or are they in the 2Bdr as well? I remember the laudary machines in SSR were just "over and unders" stuffed into a closet and they took up the entire closet. Social Services would definitely be knocking if you stuffed a child in there to sleep. :rolleyes1

The full size side by side washer and dryer have their own laundry room at OKW. There is more than enough room for a twin sized airbed in there. You wouldn't be able to open the second door to the bathroom from the laundry if the bed is down, but that's minor.

What a great idea, thanks to all for sharing, I'm thinking my kids would LOVE to sleep in there!

Not only have we put our children in the closets (which they loved), we also put the pack and play in the shower when we ended up with the handicap accessible room. Weren't thrilled with our room assignment at first but when we realized that we could close the shower curtain and turn it in to a nursery we did a happy dance! :cool1: We've even gone so far as unscrewing the light bulb so the fan stays on (for white noise) but it's dark enough for the baby to sleep. Only on the DIS would I admit these things - people in my real life already think I'm a Disney nut. If they found out where my kids have slept, they'd really think I was crazy! :disrocks:

Oh, thank you so much for posting this!

DH and I have been talking about putting our 2yo in the closet in October, about 10% jokingly, 90% seriously. My parents think we're nuts, but she too needs quiet and dark to sleep, and I know with the excitement of travelling, Disney, and all her relatives around, it's going to be hard enough getting her to sleep, without sharing a room with other people. We were also thinking about dedicating a bathroom to her in our 2 BR, since we can use the other one while she sleeps.

Anyone tried this at SSR?

I love this board!

Good thread for future reference when we actually have kids that may need to sleep in a closet/laundry room. :)

Also curious if anyone has tried this at SSR. We are going in October with DD5 and DS2. DS needs absolute quiet and dark to sleep - VERY light sleeper. We are staying in a 2BR suite with another family of 4. We will take the king room and keep DD in bed with us, but weren't sure what to do with DS. He is too long for a pack'n'play. I was thinking of renting a crib for the room (he sleeps in a crib at home), but am concerned that he won't sleep well in the same room as us so NONE of us will sleep well. We want to put the kids to bed early and then us adults stay up in the living room, so the fold-out bed probably will go unused.

2 questions:
1. Does an SSR 2-bedroom have a walk-in closet or laundry (this will be our first trip "home")
2. Will a crib or air mattress fit in there?

Thanks!

No laundry room at SSR, but I believe there is a walk-in closet in the master. I doubt it would be big enough for a rental crib, but a Pac N Play would probably fit in there.
