At the risk of getting flamed I want to ask a question that has perplexed me for some time about people posting on these boards while on the ship..
Why, when you have dreamt, planned and worked so hard to make this great holiday possible do you sit inside the ship on a computer talking about it? There is so much to see and do the computer is the last thing I can imagine doing while in the Caribbean.
I can understand getting net access if your business/job requires some contact, or you need/want to stay in contact with family but I would think most things could wait until you've returned.
I understand to each their own and it is NOT a criticism, but just wondered why?
Cheers,

Personally, many posters here have helped me with my cruise. I will be thinking of them each time I do something that someone suggested. I was on Castaway Cay last year, and I had a great time. But, this time when I go, it will be Nate Page I am thinking of. And how glorious he must have felt as the sun and breeze kissed his skin.

Several DIS'ers mean a good deal to me. I would like to stay in touch.

I'm sure others feel the same way.

I try to check my email once (maybe twice) so that I don't have ten billion emails when I get home, but I haven't posted to the boards from the ship. Just too busy doing nothing. :)

It's an ADDICTION!!!!

I too wondered how people could take the time to log in but while on my cruise in November I found myself checking the boards...and even posting...eeeekkkkkkkkkk.

Yes, I'm one of those those people who just love to get on the internet and let everyone else know how much fun we're having, what's going on, and where they are serving the mango soup and shrimp.:cool1: ( the last item was for rae519 and verandah man's benefit)

:earsboy: :earsgirl: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

because it's fun to keep in touch with all our Dis friends and to let everyone know what's going on! And that way, the previous cruisers can re-live their cruise through us.

It's downtime like anything else!! I hop on while DD and DW are getting ready for dinner, which takes at least 5 times as long as it does me, or if they are napping.. or whatever, there are computers in a couple of places on the ship so I will hop on for 10 minutes at a time or so.
I certainly don't spend huge amounts of time and I don't miss anything I want to do...
and I think it is kind of a fun thing both for the people on the ship and the people back on shore...
It's all about dreams anyway right?

Gee thanks Hans Solo, it sure is nice to be thought about, even when you are on the ship and we aren't, LOL!!!

I read and posted a "few" times during our cruise in August. I did this mainly when DW was at the spa and DD was off in Common Grounds. Although there are a great number of things happening on the ship, I still needed some down time for myself. For some reason, I always seemed to be on deck 3 walking past the Internet Cafe during those times, fancy that!!! I wonder how that happened???

And in two weeks, we'll be going through Jeanny withdrawal as she will be sailing on the Magic in cabin 7560.
