Using someone else's park pass

We had some friends visit us from Canada over the holidays. They had a 5 day park pass for Disneyland and California Adventure, but only used 3 days. They left the passes with us, and we'd like to use them for one day. The tickets say "non transferable" but does Disney go to extreme measures to find out if the person entering is the person who purchased the passes? The tickets aren't signed. I'd hate to drive all the way down there only to be embarrassed and turned away at the gate!

At that point, I would consider them a gift.
For regular park passes, I don't know how they would know who bought them. I have even read posts where unused park tickets are sold on Ebay. (Although I wouldn't buy them, as you don't know how many days are actually unused until you get to a park.)
Have fun. :)

You might have to use them within a certain time frame - perhaps 13 days from initial use. Check it out before you plan on using them.

If the passes are not signed, I don't see that you'd have a problem, just make sure the time frame the tickets are for is not expired. (are the tickets paper/cardboard? maybe yellow?)

When we were in DL back in November, it was hit or miss on whether or not they asked for identification along with the passes when entering the parks. If so, they just compared the signature name on the ticket with our driver's licenses. (the majority of the time they didn't. )

They can tell by the bar code on the ticket how many days are left for use on the card, and maybe when it was first or last used, but not a name since you don't have to provide a name to purchase one (at least at the ticket booths there). I do not know if this would be the same if the tickets were originally part of a package deal or from a voucher.

Couldn't hurt to try.

"Turn them in to annual passes?!", she asked as her mouse ears perked up!! How do I do that and what does it cost?

For the record, they purchased these tickets in Canada- some kind of a 5 day pass for the price of 3 days discount.

I've probably unintentionally used park passes previously used by someone else (Unintentionally, I said, before anyone lectures me). When my family returns from WDW, I mark the # of unused days on the tickets (if any), then throw tickets with unused days in my Disney box-actually a used candy tin with Mickey on it. Then, I take a solo trip about once a year and usually bring the tickets with unused days (last year I went to WDW with 3 tickets!) No one's ever asked me for ID at the gates.
BTW, I no longer do that-having an AP is much more fun!

Well, looks like we'll give it a try. Worse that could happen is that we have to drive 2 hours back home. I'll give a report when we get back (or after the mouse police decide to release us! ;) )

The tickets expire this coming Saturday. I'm trying to decide if it would be better to go Dec. 31 or Jan. 1. I really hate dealing with standing in line all day, especially since we want to cram in as much as we can from both parks. We've been to DL a few times, but never to DCA.

If you can do it, probably go Jan 1st early in the AM - Everyone will be nursing a hang over or sleeping in from being up late the night before - That would probably be your best bet if you can do that -

Have a blast!

We bought the US version of these for our Oct. trip and on the back in black letters under the 5 days for the price of 3 wording it says "Expires 13 days after first visit"

Canada tickets may be different. Just make sure there is not exclusion wording on the back.

I would deffiently go Jan 1st vs Dec 31st. New Years Eve is a BIG park day at Disneyland. It will be PACKED all day. If you do decide to go NYE get there at opening and DO NOT leave the park until you are ready to leave for the day. Often times the park will get to capacity and they will refuse admission.

Thanks to everyone for all the helpful info! The tickets will expire Saturday, so we've decided to go this coming Friday. I swear, this will probably go down in history as the cheapest DL vacation ever. 4 free passes good for both parks and I just booked the Hyatt Regency for Friday night for $35 on priceline! Plus the tickets give us $10 worth of tokens each ($40 total) at ESPN gamezone in DD. We plan on getting there at open, hitting the big stuff in DL, cruising over to DCA and doing that park, then coming back to DL for the "small stuff", leave at midnight. It's a 2 hour drive from my house, so we're going to stay friday night, then get up Saturday morning and head over to DD before going back home. Happy New Year everyone!

Sounds like it will be a great trip. Ride CA Screamin for me. I LOVE that ride.

Get to DL right at opening. Nothing better than a lineless Fantasyland.
