Hi there - we are planning for a Grand Villa next summer and may not have enough points. Can you combine points and cash? How much do the Grand Villas run per night for DVC members?

Rather then paying cash maybe you should consider getting a point transfer from another owner for the needed points.

On the rent/trade forum you can request a point transfer or just look at other owners already offering their points for either transfer or rent. Depending when you book you may need the owner of the particular resort to get the 11 month advantage. So if your 80 points short you can request 80 points needed to fill a reservation. A price is agreed upon and the owner of the points calls MS and transfers 80 points from their member # to your member #. Terms of payment would be between you and the owner offering points. Expect a paypal transaction because of speed.

You did not say where you were staying but if it is AKL I have never seen a DVC cash rate posted for a GV, so you will have to call MS and ask. This may be because there were so few, but with the new buildings the availability should be better. For the other resorts the rates are as follows (rack/DVC discount regular Season) BW 1695/1223.75 OKW/SS 1305/926.5.

I would say if you are filling a weekday then transferring points may be better.

FYI each night must be all cash or points.

I'd venture a guess that you are not going to get the DVC discounted rate on a GV. So figure on paying the rack rate price....if you can get it on cash. It might be booked on points before you can even get a cash reservation.

I know for the June period the AKV Grand Villa goes for around $1500 per night. We just came back from a staying in a AKV Grand Villa and had some mousekeeping issues so Disney gave us a 50% cash refund for one night even though we booked on points. The Grand Villa is amazing.
