I know this is really a sad thing to ask but want to get things right and we set off in a couple of days so things are playing on my mind.

When I use the membership card in the restaurants do I have to show it to them before we order, when we order or just when we pay.?

Just a little nervous.

In restaurants I've always shown it to them when we've asked for the bill.

Thinking about it though, I suppose you could always show it when you order as a couple of times the bill has been brought over before we've asked and then it's had to be recalculated but they shouldn't do that ~ how do they know you don't want a second cup of coffee or in my case a second pot of tea? :rotfl2:

In restaurants where you pay the bill at the end (ie non-buffet restaurants) I show them my card when I ask for the bill. You have to show them your card when you're paying at buffet restaurants, thats often before you are seated.

In shops, always show them your card before they ring up the final total on the till - otherwise they have to start all over again!

I have always shown the shareholders clubcard before ordering. But to be fair that has not made much difference unless it has changed in recent times.

Quite a few times the bill would be presented before we had finished the meal and it had to be re-calculated as the discount had not been included.
If the bill had not been presented then I would make sure to show the shareholders clubcard when asking for the bill :goodvibes

The official DLRP/corporate site says:

Enjoy a 15% discount on table service and buffet restaurants in our Parks, Disney Hotels, Disney® Village and Golf Disneyland®. Simply present your Shareholders Club Card when you pay.

When you pay - so it's fine in any case (I remembered reading that because I was also investigating buying shares; I want to treat myself to the shares if next week's job interview goes well :) )

Luckily this has only happened to us a couple of times but isn't it annoying when restaurants do this! If I'm in a hurry I'll ask for the bill when my dessert comes. It serves them right if they then have to re-do it.

Good luck with your job interview. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

It would seem that paying using your shareholder's discount in restaurants, works out better than buying the half board meal plans, no?

yes with the shareholders discount there is a set 15% discount. with the vouchers they use that clever little phase "up to" when talking about the discount which in effect means that in some places you may not get very much if anything off at all

Ooh, that's a bit crafty isn't it? I guess some people who don't thoroughly investigate and organise these things, could be getting themselves a raw deal.

yes they are, people buy the vouchers thinking they are saving when in reality if you dont want a three course meal it would be cheaper to just order what you want off the menu. i was going to get them on one of my trips and i worked the whole thing out :lmao: in a lot of places i was saving nothing and in others the saving was so minute it wasnt worth the bother.

I was working it out last night. I would like a really nice birthday meal. Cafe Mickey has about 50/50 good/bad reviews (I should say...), so I came to the conclusion that Inventions might be the way to go? With a shareholder's discount, ok it's expensive, but not too bad. Roughly short of £100 (without drinks...if the prices I used were reasonably up to date.) 2A + 1C. On the other hand, I don't want to book anything right now, in case I miss a parade or anything, through dining! Parades/shows, 1st, eating 2nd!

Thanks for all the advice guys did not want to get it wrong and miss out on any discount.

Good luck with the job Suzanne1979.:thumbsup2

So Discounts here I come 1 sleep to go:woohoo:

Silly question: what is the Shareholder's Club Card and how do I get one?:rotfl:

I was hoping it was the British version of DVC but when I asked at the hotel desk in DLP they told me there was no discount for DVC members.

Thanks in advance!

this thread has come at a great time for me, i'm going to treat myself to some shares next week and was also going to book the premium half board meal tickets for 4a and 1c for when we go in nov. But having read this I will have to rethink. We love eating in inventions and am planning to eat in there for the 3 nights we are there.
