I like to use our room card for all our extra charges. How does it work to add a tip for the DDP? I am assuming that I will be having an adult beverage with dinner so that charge would be on there too.

As an obsessive planner and faithful reader of these great DIS threads, thank you in advance for your input! :goodvibes

I can't give you the details but we had no problem doing this when we were at WDW in April. I think the items included in the meal plan were subtracted and we received a bill with just the extras ( alcholic drinks, etc.). there was a line where we included the gratuity and we just charged it to our room. There wa no problem at all and it was accurate and easy.

Thanks Silver Queen!

Did the bill have the total (all entrees and desserts) amount so you could figure a tip?

I have a question. If you charge all to your room, can you pay with cash before you leave or do you have to have it charged to a CC?

you can pay cash (or use gift cards as some do who don't like to carry cash at all.) However, check the bill the night before you're checking out, and pay then, because some time during the wee hours of the morning they'll put it on your credit card to expedite express check out. And do look carefully at the bill...we've found errors often. They've always been very apologetic & quick to fix them at the desk...if you do it while you're still there.

I can tell you how it worked in Feb 08. Hopefully they've made the process less awkward, but don't count on it. The server brings a check with the total charge before DDP and a suggested 18% and 20% tip amount. Adding an extra charge (like alcohol) simplifies things a bit since you can give the server your KTTW to charge tips without telling the server the tip amount before they take the card. With an extra charge you get a regular receipt which has a tip line which can be added _after_ you sign like you would normally in addition to the DDP receipt. Note however if the DDP will pay for the entirety of the check you _must_ tell the server the tip amount, or write it down _before_ the server takes your KTTW. The server must add the tip as a service charge, otherwise you get only one zeroed out receipt with no way to add a tip since the computer closes the check once the balance is 0. If you do tell them what tip you want, you get a second receipt for this service charge you must sign -with a tip line too- so don't double tip!

So the moral of the story is to make sure you drink?!?!?!?
