Okay guys, here's the deal I just experienced. MTS said the kids had unlimited text and no extra charges in the U.S. for their unlimited text plan, and they were right (whoduthunk?). The bill arrived, and there were NO TEXTING charges for the kids MTS phones. Now, we purchased a couple of Tracfones while we were there, and they worked wonderfully! We will keep ours active as the unused airtime carrys over and we will use that up when in the U.S. I did try using it in Fargo, ND recently and they didn't work, and the Radio Shack said they should. I called Tracfone today and they said the only reason it didn't work, was because of the phones we had were not compatible with ND towers, otherwise they should have worked there. If we upgraded to another phone it would work there as well. So, these are definately a good deal if you shop or go to the U.S. a lot. Everything is charged out by billing Units (to send or receive a text is .3 units). It says on their website that long distance is 1 unit per minute as is regular, so it sounds pretty good. I'll test that in Sept.

Thought I would share that with you.

Hi;
Thanks for the info.:thumbsup2
Where did you buy the Tracfone, how much was it, and how long can you carry the minutes forward? :confused: Need to buy two, or 3 for the upcoming trip in Nov. then again for March.

Thanks.

My husband bought the Tracfone at the Walmart close to Disney for I believe $19.99. It came with some time pre-loaded and then if you registered on line, they gave you bonus minutes. I don't think the carry over time expires. I believe you just use it up first. If you go to their website, you will see the different time plans availabe and for how long (45 days, 90 days, etc.). I just re-loaded my $9.99 cards today for 45 more days and I will need to do this again end of August, but that time will be carried forward for our Sept/Oct trip and those minutes will be used then. You don't have to add time, it's just we don't want to lose the ph# and re-register. If you go down a lot, you may want to look at the 365 day plan.
