Using refillable mugs at next resort?

Sorry if this has already been asked/answered but we are staying at VWL for 2 x nights in December before moving on to AKLV for the next 3 x nights.

If we purchase refillable mugs at VWL - can we then use them at the AKLV or do we have to buy another set when we get there?

we just returned from CBR and then SSR.

We bought our mugs at CBR and were able use them at SSR with no problems

we did explain to the CM's in SSR though to make sure it was ok but they had no problem with it.

Yes, we just bought ours at OKW and were told without asking that we can use these at all the resorts.

A bus driver told my parents this past January that the mugs were good forever and that they could bring them back year after year. And I have had a heck of a time convincing them that they have to buy a new one every year.

Yep, I always believe what the bus drivers tell me. Mugs are good for the length of your trip at the resort you bought them. When you check out, they turn into Cinderella mugs at midnight. Just ordinary mugs and not refillable.

This topic has raged on the boards for years... I agree you can probably get away with reusing mugs from previous trips, however, the rules clearly state the mug is only good for the stay in which you bought it and the resort where you purchased it at.

They took the Resort where you bought it off and added Our Resort beverage Islands..

Old Mugs i have 4 maybe 5 different rerorts that all say the same thing. ( my CoroSp has nothing on it???0

Refillable only at the Location Purchased
Free refills until the end of your Stay.

New mugs from this trip

Free refills at our Resort Beverage islands until
the End of the Stay in which the Mug was Purchased.

Again I think this is for Split stays as well not for the entire Year or to bring back the next mont. I tink it's from the time you buy until the time you Leave WDW that Stay

Ok - sorry if I have opened up a can of worms here!

I just wanted to know if its worth purchasing mugs in our first location.

We are only at the Wilderness Lodge Villas for two nights - one of which is our first night in Florida and I think we will be arriving late evening - so if we buy a mug here then we really won't be getting any value for money if we then have to purchase another at the Animal Kingdom Villas.
I understand the Disney Policy and I am sure that there are some that would take full advantage of any "loopholes".
If there is a strict policy for only using the mugs in the resort purchased then we will wait until we get to AKL before buying them.

The last time we were at AKL in 2004 the mugs were dedicated "Mara" design (I am looking at one now on the office shelf - full of pens & pencils!) so it would have been obvious that they were for AKL only but I understand that all mugs at all resorts are now the same design - is that correct?

I think we will enquire at VWL when we arrive and take advice "straight from the horses mouth" just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for your replies - these boards are really great - I've picked up so much information - how do people survive when they just "turn up" unprepared!!! I really can't imagine what it would be like - your first time at Disney - if you didn't come armed with at least some of this information. It must be absolutley bewildering for some people.

Are they resort specific again? We bought the dream come true ones last year. I was so mad as I was collecting the mugs from each resort we stayed at. Our first trip as DVC they changed them. What do they look like this year?

You can ask five different CMs a question and get five different answers. You'll find a sign posted where you purchase and refill the mugs. It says what Terry's mug had on it.

Can someone please tell us what the mugs look like now? Are they resort specific or are they generic? I'm packing mine from last year and if I can get away with it, I'm using them again. Also, buy the mugs at WLV and use them at AK. We've stayed there twice (and yes on those times we did purchase the mugs) and where they have the refill station set up is in the corner and remote. It is the perfect resort to fill up whatever mug you want. I've seen people doing that there but don't recall seeing that anywhere else. I do have a collection of mugs from different resorts but if they're generic than they're not as special because when they were resort mugs it was a souvenier of that specific resort.

The mugs I bought last week at SSR were identical to the ones I bought last November at GF. They were the Year of Million dreams with the black, gray and blue handles. I was kicking myself I didn't bring at least one with me from last year since they looked identical. If you look real close though, one says 2007 and one 2008. But this is hardly noticeable and wouldn't be an issue if you wanted to use the ones from last year. Whether you are ok with doing that since it clearly states on the Beverage Stations that they are good only for that stay at all stations.
